Grandpa in the Fast & the Food-ious, from this week’s THE WEIRD FILES.

An 81-year-old Florida Grandpa was arrested Saturday after allegedly drag racing a mobility scooter through a local grocery store, reaching speeds employees described as “genuinely alarming for a cereal aisle.”

Staff at Fresh Farms Market said the man and another customer, whom he reportedly met near the produce section, began arguing over who had the faster mobility scooter before agreeing to settle the dispute with a race.

The pair reportedly raced the full length of Aisle Seven, with the deli counter designated as the finish line.

The 81-year-old lost the first heat by approximately a basket length and immediately challenged his opponent to a rematch. In an apparent attempt to improve his performance, the second man removed the basket from the front of his scooter before the next race.

The strategy appeared to work.

During the final stretch of the second heat, the two scooters reportedly collided with a promotional cereal display, sending boxes across the aisle and leaving visible tire marks on the store’s tile floor.

Despite the collision, the second man won both races and was reportedly heard asking a store employee whether there was a trophy.

Witnesses said shoppers gathered near the cheese section and cheered as the scooters thundered past for the second time.

One employee told police the experience was the most excitement he’d had in years, reportedly saying he “hadn’t felt that alive since the Army.”

Another employee said she had never seen tire marks on the grocery store floor before Saturday.

The store manager, who has operated the location for six years, said the incident was unlike anything he had previously experienced.“We’ve had shopping cart pileups, but we’ve never had a photo finish,” he said in a statement.

Following the incident, store management announced that mobility scooter speeds will now be capped throughout the store.

Witnesses described as “the scene of the greatest grocery store race in Florida history”

🚨NEW SHOW🚨 (Link in Bio)

If you’re vegetarian, you might want to sit this one out because MJ & Nath have got beef. And plenty of it.

The boys break down the announcement of Days of Thunder 2, including the inevitable question: what exactly do you call people who love Anne Hathaway? Are they Hathamites or Hathuanians? Whatever they’re called, they’ve probably got beef with Nath.

Nath is throwing hand signs around like he’s either joined a gang or has simply fallen asleep on his arm, and MJ has beef with it. Meanwhile, Lanterns chat returns as the boys discuss the importance of telling stories from different backgrounds and perspectives.

Nath reviews Chachu, the new limited series written by Ms. Marvel herself, Iman Vellani, before asking the question: Should celebrities be writing comics? Let’s just say, you guessed it... there’s beef.

The Mos Eisley Mailbag also makes its triumphant return, thanks to MJ and that deformed toaster, Cyril. And because apparently MJ hasn’t suffered enough, The Weird Files serves up another tale that can only be described as the Fast and the Food-ious.

So, where’s the beef? Right here. And this week, the steaks are definitely high on the Pulp Culture Podcast.

🚨NEW SHOW🚨 (Link in Bio)

The boys are back in town for another whopper of an episode, and this week they’ve got plenty to talk about! From fiery stunts on the set of The Mummy 4 to last-minute casting changes for the new Harry Potter series, MJ & Nath have the latest covered.

There’s more spoiler-free chat about HBO Max’s Lanterns, and you’d better get used to it, because there are still six more weeks of this cosmic conversation to come!

Over in The Aisle, the comic talk covers a very eclectic bunch: bugs, soldiers, clowns and drivers. Nath also shares his double experience visiting Melbourne’s first Wendy’s, because apparently this is now essential pop culture journalism.

There’s no Weird Files this week, much to MJ’s delight, but something new takes its place: One Sentence Cinema. Nath describes a famous movie using one deliberately obscure sentence, and MJ has to figure out what the heck he’s talking about.

Big news, comics, fast food and cinematic brain teasers, it’s another whopper of a week on the Pulp Culture Podcast.

FAKE RANGER WARNS OF FAKE LIZARD from this weeks Weird Files (Link in Bio)

An Arizona man was arrested Saturday after officials say he posed as a national park ranger for an entire day and warned dozens of hikers about a dangerous lizard he had completely invented.

The man reportedly showed up in a green fleece and a hat with a badge reading ‘Trail Safety Division’ that he had ordered online.

Investigators say he stopped hikers at the trailhead to warn them about the ‘Arizona Cliff Screecher’, a lizard that does not exist in any record.

The fake Ranger allegedly described it as “three feet long, mildly judgmental, and drawn to bright socks” while handing out fake safety pamphlets
Witnesses say he ran a full ‘lizard preparedness briefing’ and had hikers practice “the freeze-and-whistle technique”
Officials report he set up a folding table with a warning poster he’d drawn himself and a donation jar for research.

When a real ranger confronted him, the man calmly said “you clearly haven’t seen what I’ve seen out there” and adjusted his hat.

Several hikers reportedly turned back in fear before officials confirmed the lizard was fictional and he had no affiliation with the park.

NEW SHOW 🟢 (Link in Bio)

MJ & Nath are back and fully charged, bringing you all the big news from Disney’s D23 Fan Expo. But that’s just the start of this week’s power surge of pop culture.

It’s a huge week for TV, with Ted Lasso, a new season of Reacher, the conclusion of X-Men ’97 Season 2, and the moment the boys have been waiting for, Episode 1 of HBO Max & DC Studios’ Lanterns. Did it live up to the hype? The boys put it under the spotlight.

Over in The Aisle, there’s plenty of comic book chat, including last week’s special co-host Benji Bajorek new printing of his comic The Flower.

And because the Weird Files refuses to stay in the shadows, this week brings another bizarre tale involving a fake lizard. It gets weird enough for MJ to challenge Nath to come back next week with the freeze-and-whistle technique.

So charge your rings, raise your constructs and prepare for another week of pop culture power as the Pulp Culture Podcast is ready to patrol the fandom.
