It's time to reveal our mystery coin!

The hints provided were: the coin is slightly larger than a Half Penny, but smaller than a One Penny. It's made of bronze, just like a Penny.

After some gentle cleaning, I can now reveal that it's an 1863 traders token from D T Mulligan of Rockhampton. D T Mulligan operated as a general store and draper before being assimilated into other local businesses.

I'm very happy to add this one to the collection!

It's Mystery Coin time!

Can you help me identify this coin? It was found during a recent hunt, but it's size has me stumped! I originally thought it was a Half Penny, but after getting it home and comparing it, I found it's too large. It's also too small to be a normal One Penny. It has the same approximate thickness as both pennies. It appears to be exactly 28mm in diameter.

As yet the coin has not been cleaned, and I'll be going easy on it just in case it ends up being something rare or valuable!

I did a couple of yard permissions a couple of weeks back. This is one of the nicer finds. It's appears to be a silver or silver plated button. Does anyone have any ideas where the button might have come from, or what the significance of the symbols are? I thought it could have something to do with the Olympics given the torch and rings, but I'm probably wrong.

Just under 2 hours on my favourite beach tonight. 1x Florin, 1x Sixpence, $7.01 in change, a silver ring, an unknown ring, and a necklace. Not a bad run!

A great start to 2024! I've found a little spot on a quiet beach that has stated to yield lots of pre-decimal coins! I got 2x Roo Half Pennies, 2x Commonwealth Half Pennies, 2x Sixpences and a stack of Threepence coins, all within a short span of beach. I'll be going back to look for more, because I'm sure there's lots more to be found. Plus I found this lovely silver ring as I was getting ready to leave.
