GUNN LEADS THE WAY AFTER NIGHT ONE!
Hobart’s Luke Gunn sits at the top of the points standings after the opening night of the Buckby Motors Tasmanian Super Sedan Title at Cranes Combined Carrick Speedway.
Lee Aylett got his Tasmanian Title campaign off to the perfect start with a dominant victory in the opening heat of the night. Victoria’s Mick Nicola stormed from the inside of row three to take second, ahead of first time Tasmanian visitor, Queensland’s Darren Saunders in third.
Brock Atkins first Tasmanian Super Sedan start couldn’t have gone any better as he took the victory in heat two. Defending Tasmanian Champion Brad Pascoe had to fight all the way, but took second on the last corner from Tasmania’s Tim Johnson in third.
Tyson Moon made it two in a row for Moons Racing with a commanding victory in heat three. Moon led the way from Queensland’s Matty Pascoe in second, and Tasmania’s Wayne Dillon.
Eight time Tasmanian Champion David Nichols rallied from fourth on the grid to take out the fourth heat of the night. Nichols crossed the line more than two seconds clear of Steve Latham in second, and Queenslander Michael Hally in third.
Marcus Alexander made it two in a row for the home state when claimed a hard fought win in heat five. National Champion Darren Kane was right on Alexander’s tail in second, with Brad Pascoe right behind in third.
Nicola continued his good start to his Tasmanian Title campaign by taking the win in heat six. Gunn crossed the line in second, ahead of Corey Jetson in third.
Gunn backed up his runner up finish with a hard fought victory in heat seven, to propel himself to the top of the points standings. Callum Harper pushed Gunn all the way in second, ahead of Aylett in third who rallied from seventh on the grid.
Nichols became the only multi heat winner of the night after a great drive in heat eight. Nichols and Zac Pascoe had a great side by side battle, Pascoe crossed the line in second, ahead of ‘The Joker’ Steve Jordan in third.
Latham dominated the final heat of the night, crossing the line almost three and a half seconds clear of his nearest competitor. That competitor was Kane who came out on top in a thrilling battle for the minor placings, with Nathan Howells rounding out the podium in third.
Drivers will return tomorrow night for one more round of heats to set the field for the forty lap Buckby Motors Tasmanian Super Sedan Title A Main.
Every lap will be streamed live on Clay-Per-View.
