The victim escaped and was helped by members of the public, while the alleged offenders fled in his Volkswagen Golf that was found in Claremont days later.
Both are facing multiple charges and will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.

Tasmania Police have completed the statewide rollout of more than 300 metal-detecting wands.
The handheld devices will be used in shopping centres, nightlife precincts and public transport hubs over the Christmas and New Year period.
Since mid-June, police have conducted more than 820 wand searches, seizing 29 weapons and charging 20 people, with knives the most common.
The rollout follows budget delays and community pressure, with police saying the wands will improve safety and support increased festive-season patrols.

The dead gum was painted blue in 2021 as part of the Blue Tree Project, with the council saying the tree’s message would live on.

Recovery efforts are underway at Dolphin Sands after a bushfire destroyed at least 19 properties on Tasmania’s east coast.
Federal Emergency Management Minister Kristy McBain visited the area on Tuesday, confirming disaster recovery funding has been activated alongside the state government.
Deputy Premier Guy Barnett said nearly $120,000 in emergency grants have already been distributed, with federal funding to cover debris and asbestos clean-up.
The Tasmania Fire Service says the fire was caused by an inadequately extinguished burn-off, with investigations continuing as recovery centres support affected residents.

The project includes a new three-storey complex with visitor accommodation, townhouses, commercial tenancies, a bar and cafe, plus a 37-space basement car park.
Many local residents opposed the proposal, raising concerns about scale and excavation impacts on nearby historic buildings.

A proposal to ban new car dealerships in Hobart’s CBD has been deferred to a council workshop after a heated Hobart City Council meeting, where it was branded “half-baked”.
The motion, put forward by Councillor Ryan Posselt yesterday, sought to block new broadacre car yards in central Hobart and push them to the outskirts.
Councillor John Kelly led a successful move to defer the plan.
He criticised the lack of consultation with affected businesses, calling the motion "nothing more than a half-baked, attention-seeking motion that is just a pathetic thought bubble".
The Tasmanian Automotive Chamber of Commerce opposed the idea, while YIMBY Hobart backed it, arguing car yards waste central city land better used for housing.

A Tasmanian gun control advocate has called for an end to recreational hunting as debate over national fi****ms laws intensifies following the Bondi terror attack that killed 15 people.
Gun Control Australia vice president Roland Browne, from Hobart, wants under-18s banned from firearm access and recreational hunting licences abolished, arguing only farmers, collectors and professional shooters should be licensed.
He singled out recreational hunting as "ambiguous" and called for professional shooters to control Tasmania's deer population instead of hunters.
The Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party has rejected the calls, with MP Carlo Di Falco saying they unfairly target law-abiding gun owners and misrepresent existing laws around youth firearm use.
"Regional Tasmanians of all ages have been safely using fi****ms to protect their crops and maintain wildlife populations for generations," he said.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says national cabinet has agreed to revisit and strengthen the National Fi****ms Agreement.

Tasmania has become a nation leader on hate crime, with parliament unanimously passing landmark laws expanding protections for vulnerable communities.
The Sentencing Amendment (Aggravating Factors) Act 2025 allows courts to impose tougher penalties when offences target people based on attributes including race, age, religion, gender identity, sexuality and disability.
Advocates say the reforms, among the broadest in Australia, will strengthen police and prosecutorial responses and better capture hate-motivated behaviour.
Community leaders have welcomed the changes as a strong statement that prejudice and hostility have no place in Tasmanian society.

A new 26-metre Telstra phone tower will be built in St Helens after TASCAT overturned a council decision rejecting the structure as too tall and visually intrusive.
The tribunal has ordered Break O’Day Council to issue a permit within 14 days, ruling that telecommunications planning rules allowing towers up to 30 metres override general height limits.
Council argued in March that the tower would clash with St Helens’ low-rise coastal character, but TASCAT preferred evidence it would not be unreasonably intrusive.
The slim monopole will be built behind the existing Telstra exchange to improve mobile coverage across the area, which has been notoriously bad.
