We are so super delighted to share new music from mainland friends 💐

March of 2023, Spice World launched their first album “There’s no “I” in Spice World” at a small community hall in White Gum Valley. The following day, they set up in a friend’s spare bedroom in South Fremantle with producer Jeremy Segal to record a brand new album. The album wasn’t fully written, Rhian was on crutches, Julia needed to get on a plane home that night but for Spice World, that’s where the magic lives - discovering what can be captured in brief moments of time when everyone is in the same place.

The first two singles, and first two songs on the album Connie and Bull’s Tools are a product of that first recording session. They were chosen as the first offerings from the record as they are the most communal, but also forecasting the sonic breadth of the record to come -
from driving, joyful and cheeky to beautiful, fragile and deeply vulnerable. Always wrapped in a supportive chorus of voices, always endearingly scrappy, and joined for the first time on this record by Layla Martin on clarinet, tiny keyboard and voice.

Both singles also delve into perpetual themes of Spice World’s collective yearning. Bull’s Tools urges getting off the hamster-wheel of workaholism and capitalistic ambition and embracing the beauty in life that’s already right by your side. Connie speaks to losing yourself in a daydream, and how far can it be pushed until it becomes some sort of reality in itself, the romance of daydreams and being true to passion.
