IT’S WEDDING SEASON, BABY!
🤩
Last weekend kicked off with a BANG, with a wedding at the incredible and then the oh-so-fun newest expo in town by local shutterbug extraordinaire .

It was so great to see so many couples feeling that welcoming and inclusive vibe while meeting a handful of top-notch vendors. And, if they were like me, consuming an unhealthy number of espresso martinis..

BTW - if you have sent me an email about your upcoming wedding, PLEASE check your junk folder.
What can I say, my emails like to slum it with the p***s enlargement ads. 🤷‍♀️

Goals for this season:
- Post some gaddam content regularly, sheesh.
- Finally learn how to spell ‘accommodation’ on the first go.
- Reach out to friends more.
- Meet and marry some of the best people around.

Karina + Jesper
You want chill vibes? You've come to the right place.

Hailing from Tassie and Denmark respectively, these soulmates met in WA, in a town home to warm wind and salty sailors. Amidst windsurfing and sailfixing and endless effortless conversations they fell for each others enthusiasm for life and gentle acceptance of happiness in its simplest of forms.
Again and again a beautiful pattern would play out between them. One of a natural process, unplanned but inevitable - like day following night.

They kept their ceremony super relaxed and low fuss, with touches of specialty - Karina giving Jesper a surprise bottle of gin created for him complete with his name on the front (and later, I got one too, thanks!!) and it felt so special to get to join them.

Brooke + Jimmy
I'm not sure what I loved more about this day - the uncontainable, intense joy on Jimmy's face as he marries Brooke, that confident woman he met all those years ago. Their dog children rolling around, getting amped up, and in one exciting moment, puppy Henry running off into the grapevines. Or the insanely sweet story of these two knowing each other since childhood, through their common link, Ashlea.

Brooke was Ashlea's best friend, and Jimmy was Ashlea's dorky cousin. Except as Brooke returned from living elsewhere and moved in with Jimmy and Ashlea, she discovered he had grown into this incredibly genuine and loving guy, and more importantly, her dog George thought so too.
Jimmy was equally intrigued by Brooke, this self-possessed, adventurous and wickedly funny person.

So when Jimmy moved from his unofficial room in the stairwell -
a living situation brought about due to a regularly flooding rental and a dodgy landlord - and into Brooke’s room, well the cat was out of the bag.

Although Ashlea, I’m told, despite this happening right under her nose, may have been the last to realise that her best mate and her cousin were a thing.

Nissa + Will
Eloping to the wilds of kunanyi / Mt Wellington in Hobart, joined by their mutual best mate, Alicia, and talented photographer James from , Nissa and Will planned a day that was equal parts relaxed and chill, stunning and luxe, adventurous and epic.

Slowly getting ready together, they set off for a wander around the pinnacle of kunanyi, taking in the views of the city and river, before a picnic lunch with the pademelons hopping eagerly around. Then a quick jacket change, and a celebrant arrival (hello!) we walked along the rocky and picturesque track to their chosen lookout to share vows and rings.

I LOVE seeing couples approach their day in a meaningful way, planning out a moment that is truly 'them'.
Nice one, you two. x

Frankie + Felicity - How have I not shared these photos yet?
When I’d heard that Frankie decided to dress up as a big Unicorn for her and Flip’s First Look, I had to throw my head back and cackle.
How utterly perfect.
And it shows these two certainly found their person, something both Frankie and Flip felt after that very first date. Probably why it ended up lasting around 24 hours.
Meeting for a low-key morning date of paddle boarding, Felicity remembers picking up Frankie, seeing her standing there in her white dress and white shoes - looking like this pure, innocent person who could do no wrong, and thought, this girl is way out of my league! What must she think of me, a hippy bogan who lives in the middle of nowhere?
Truly though, Frankie’s opinions were more along the line of THIS is my kind of weirdo.
And even though there is a certain level of nervousness that comes with getting down to your swimmers on a first date, Frankie remembers a special type of nervousness she felt, like this was not going to be any ordinary date.
Only the sunburn showed that the hours had melted by, warranting drinks at the pub and a hasty message of “All G” from Frankie to her mates that were concerned she had been gone so long.
As is only fitting, Frankie and Flip’s day ranged from silly and funny, to beautiful and heart rending, and was featured on
Plus, you know, unicorns.

Adele + Hudson - I truly do marry THE BEST couples. Though the night ended in a trip to the emergency room after some wild dancing (how’s the ankle Adele?) it started with as much heart, hilarity, and downright adorability as their 9 years prior had contained.

Back in the day, a younger Adele was at work bedecked in the signature EB polo surrounded by the usual array of nerdery - board games, D&D campaigns, plush Pokémon - handing out pamphlets to a gaming expo.
Suddenly in walks a tall lad known as Hudson, on break from an, I’m sure, thrilling shift at Fone King.
Hudson had popped into EB Games on his lunch break to talk with a few mates that worked there, and was introduced to Adele, who was asked what she thought of Hudson’s hair.
Adele remembers Huddy with the Good Hair - he had this amazing emo side fringe that was working for him - and her - as a quality hairdo was quite an attractive factor.
Hudson remembers zeroing in on Adele’s fiery locks too, her personality and aesthetic had him wanting to know more.
But this was not just about majestically matching manes. Hudson and Adele just clicked, easily and unexpectedly.

As Hudson went to leave the store, he said something that has stayed with Adele, with them both, since. A line that would begin it all and would be said again on their wedding day.
“I’m not done talking to you”

*everyone in the vicinity melts*

Dee + Luke - From the first coffee and waffle chats with Dee and Luke, through to their intimate elopement at The Point, it always felt like catching up with old friends. Old friends that you will joyfully follow down the rabbit hole of micro blading and unexpected ancestry revelations.
Omar from By The Wilde captured the intensely cool but totally genuine vibes of these two as they celebrated with their mini crew.

Dee and Luke first met when Luke moved to big city Brisbane, and was the New Housemate.
Dee, connected with another flatmate at the time was often in the house, and so these two would bump into each other from time to time in the kitchen and make casual conversation.
They quickly bonded over both being Far North Queenslanders, and even found they had some people in common - there was talk of ones teacher who was the the father of the other ones friend, and cross over between mates and cousins.
And that’s how it would go. Random chitchats and kitchen bump ins, and with every chat a friendship started to form.
One memorable Saturday morning, Dee was making Eggs Benedict, and as Luke came into the kitchen, being the nice and hospitable person she is offered some to him.
As Luke tried that Eggs Benny, he fell completely and irrevocably in love… with Dees cooking skills.

Luke mentioned he thought Dee was extremely selfless and always made him feel welcome. She was also a little weird. But so is he, so that was alright.
For Dee, she had a very particular ‘type’. Blue/green eyes.. surfer blonde hair.. clean skin with no tattoos… in short, the exact opposite of Luke.
But despite that aberration, she had to admit he was somewhat cute.

This was just the beginning, and there would be much time passed, the worlds worst first date, and a very fortunate and romantically productive birthday party to go, but boy, would it be completely and utterly worth it.

“Add one spoonful of love..” Ok, but in all seriousness, how good is this idea?! In lieu of cards, Hannah and Matt asked their guests to gift them recipes - whether they be old family tried and true recipes or straight out of the latest woolies magazine - to mark the day.
I LOVE THIS.

Well, hello there!

We've all been to those weddings. You know - the ones that drag along, have nothing to do with the couple, and leave you desperate for the party to actually start.

Far from being the uptight and stodgy part of the day preceding the drinks and dancing, I think the ceremony should be the very pinnacle, the bees knees, of the event, setting the tone for all the fun times to come.

Let's change the way ceremonies are done and start having fun again. Together, we'll tell your story, laugh, cry, reminisce and laugh again!

I'm a celebrant, a lover of telling tales and getting to know new people. People describe me as down to earth, an instant mate, easy going, and enthusiastic.
