Where did 2XX begin?
There are multiple answers, but a signficant location is the transmitting station in Giralang, just off the Barton Highway. The building was destroyed by fire, probably arson in 1988.
The radio mast however is still visible today. As a rare example of a free-standing 1928 tower, it ought to be heritage listed.
There's quite a story here - not just of the facilities, but of the people and the issues that made our station. In this interview Kimmo Vennonen describes those early days. Kimmo was one of the first station technicians and subsequently manager.
He talks about some of the highs and the lows that make our story.

A band from Perth I'm playing on this week's show.

After a successful debut show, we thought it was about time we reintroduced ourselves.......

Firstly, meet Mick Vinnie. Our frontman and master lyricist behind the microphone.

Mick is a seasoned vocalist and multi-instrumentalist whose Heavy Metal and Hard Rock influences have defined his career in the vibrant local music scene, growing up with the sounds of Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Slayer and Metallica.

He was strumming his first guitar at 11 years of age and belting out tunes in school talent shows, inspired by the raw energy of pub rock and a multitude of live performances.

Mick brings a wealth of experience to the band and a powerful presence that connects with the audience during his live performances.

Stay tuned over the next few days, as we give a unique insight into each member of Parabelum.
