Moving to Australia with kids? 🇦🇺✈️

Here's what you need to organise:

Documents:
▪️Passports – for all children (of course 😅)
▪️Original Birth Certificates – official registry copies
▪️Immunisation Records – a pediatrician/GP signature or clinic stamp can help; for Medicare and school enrolment
▪️School Records - latest year/grade/level will suffice
▪️ Visa Documents – Immi letter
▪️Baptismal or Sacrament Certificates – church-issued, for Catholic school enrolment

If only 1 parent is coming:
▪️Form 1229 (Parental Consent) – must be signed by the non-travelling parent, can always ask for new versions
▪️Non-travelling parent’s ID copies (passport/licence)
▪️Any custody documents

Extra Tips:

▪️Translate non-English documents and get certified copies ✅

▪️Check school enrolment requirements in your state 🏫

▪️Organise medical or health checks if required for visas 🩺

▪️Always check the latest Australian Department of Home Affairs requirements 🌐

Grocery shopping in Australia can be confusing at first 🇦🇺

Some ingredients have completely different names here, and I remember trying to find corn starch or chicken broth 😅

So here’s a handy Aussie English kitchen guide 🇦🇺

📌 Save this for your next grocery trip

🇦🇺 We ALL finally got our passports!!! 💙

Here are 5 fun facts about the Passport plus practical tips for first-time applications (for adults)

1️⃣ Top Tier but Costly
Australia’s passport costs 400+ AUD for 10 years and ranks in the Top 10 for travel freedom. Singapore is #1 and cheaper

2️⃣ R Series Passport
Launched in September 2022, it replaced the P Series. Old P Series passports are still valid until expiry

3️⃣ Strong & Secure
The photo page is polycarbonate, laser engraved, and tamper-resistant for extra durability

4️⃣ Hidden Security Features
Includes a biometric chip, microprinting, UV-reactive elements, and images of native fauna that appear under UV light

5️⃣ Unique Aussie Design
Each page features native flora and fauna with hidden details under special light

💡 **Pro Tip:** Covers can curl slightly over time — use a passport holder to keep it flat and protected

✍🏽 Tips for First-Time Adult Passport Applications
(Naturalised Citizens – Citizenship by Conferral)

1️⃣ Apply online — it’s more convenient.
Your referee doesn’t sign a physical form; they just need to be contactable.
You only need to print the application checklist.

2️⃣ Not all Australia Post branches process passport applications.
Check for participating outlets before you go.

3️⃣ Get passport photos done professionally (Australia Post is easiest).
The rules are strict — incorrect sizing or lighting can delay your application.

4️⃣ Bring all original identity documents when lodging:
• Australian Citizenship Certificate
• Foreign passport
• Australian driver licence
• Original birth certificate
• Medicare card

5️⃣ Timing matters:
• You can lodge from 10 working days after your citizenship ceremony.
• Once you start the online form, you have 14 days to complete it before it’s deleted.
• You must lodge within 6 months of completing the form.

Pro tip: Start filling out the online form before your 10-day mark, then lodge as soon as you’re eligible.

Save this if you’ve just had your ceremony 🇦🇺

Captured this when my Fil-Aussie toddler was 3 years and 1 month old…
He said, ‘I missed you, Nanay.’ 🥺
(Nanay means mum in Tagalog 🇵🇭)

Hope you get this kind of love today… and every day 💘

Hope this helps anyone who is thinking of getting an Australian Partner Visa 🇦🇺

Quick Disclaimer: I’m sharing what worked for me to make the proof-gathering process easier, but this isn't legal advice. A successful visa depends on your specific relationship evidence and meeting Department of Home Affairs criteria. All the best!
