Drew my little Thailand shopping haul 🛍️

If only I could go on a holiday every time I needed a reset and inspiration to finally create something again..

And it’s been so long I forgot to do my drawing on an instagram sized canvas and made a lot more work for myself if you saw this post appear and disappear this morning 😮‍💨

All my friends and family who are the majority of my audience here would have seen my holiday spam but for the rest this was two weeks of mostly eating my way through Bangkok and Chiang Mai whilst sipping on some kind of odd but delicious iced coffee or tea fusion. (Orange iced long black, honey lime ice long black, Cola iced long black, coconut iced latte, matcha sparkling yuzu, Thai Tea of course and the list goes on 🤤)

I’ve been to Bangkok a few times before but not in over a decade (feeling old) so it was fun to experience with new eyes and different company!

We did lots of exploring on the metro and by foot (until the blisters won) and went to Chinatown, the flower market, vintage stores, night markets, shopping malls, temples, cafes, parks, art galleries and workshops, rooftop bars, infinity pools and many 7-11’s!

The city can feel overwhelming at first but there is something I love about dodging the bustling traffic whilst following my nose to the next street food vendor as a local calls out ‘Tuuuk Tuuuk?’ 🛺

1. Ive been collecting ‘junk’ from little outings and online purchases for my junk journal.
I need a little photo printer next though, the thermal printer I have isn’t great for journalling because the images fade over time.

2. I gathered some old jewellery and trinkets to make a phone case but like many DIY’s the end result wasn’t amazing haha and I tried to make it ASMR but forgot half way and started playing music 😆 still not great at this social media thing.

I’m on holidays and trying to get my creative groove back so I had a little Crafternoon with a project from my book.

I went to a few op shops the other day scouring for frames but sadly found nothing so I settled with this boring Kmart frame 😮‍💨

I gathered some bits and pieces from my trip to South Korea last year and played around with different layouts. It was a good lesson in mindfulness because normally I rush these kind of things, for no real reason and then decide the end result sucks 🙃

✨Trying to slow down and enjoy the PrOcESS✨ even if I don’t love the end result.

This little book has inspired me to collect more tactile memories on my travels but also in daily life.

Studio stuff 🎨🖼️

Lately I’ve felt stuck creatively and I’ve been trying to experiment with different materials but getting frustrated because nothing feels natural or free flowing to me…I know it’s all part of the process and you’re meant to just keep trying but ughhhh when does it get easier? I don’t want my drawings to be realistic by any means but I can’t find a simple, messy style that looks intentional or interesting.

Is trying too many things stopping me from ever getting good at just one? Does any of this even matter 😂

Picture 3 was me when I was about 12 in simpler pre- iPad times although I suppose Microsoft Paint existed. I think soon after this I would’ve become critical of my art and lost interest completely for about another 20 something years 🎠
