Ipswich Budget delivers with major investments in health, education, roads, and community safety
THE 2025–26 Queensland State Budget delivers significant benefits for Ipswich across health, education, transport, justice, and housing.
The Budget focuses on addressing the crises in youth crime, health, housing, and the cost of living, while building generational infrastructure to support Ipswich’s rapid growth.
A centrepiece of the Budget is the $925 million upgrade to Ipswich Hospital, including a new acute clinical services building as part of the fully funded Hospital Rescue Plan.
The Budget also allocates $4 million for a detailed business case for a Second River Crossing across the Bremer River in Central Ipswich—an important step towards easing congestion and improving connectivity in the city.
Education receives a major boost, with funding for a new primary school in Ripley Valley to meet the needs of the growing community, as well as new special school campuses at Ipswich West and Springfield-Redbank. Ipswich North State School will benefit from playground upgrades and new shade sails, while Ipswich State High School will gain new grandstands. A new multipurpose school and community hall will be delivered at Haigslea State School.
In a further commitment to safety, the Budget funds the commencement of a $15 million upgrade of the Goodna Police facility and provides $38 million for a new police facility at Ripley. Additional investments include $10 million for a new permanent fire and rescue station in Greater Springfield, and $4 million for extra POLAIR flight hours in South East Queensland.
Road and transport projects feature prominently, with upgrades planned for the Brisbane Valley Highway between Esk and Blacksoil to improve safety and access. Footpath upgrades in Laidley CBD, Hatton Vale, and Withcott will also enhance local connectivity and pedestrian safety.
Community and sporting facilities have not been overlooked. The Budget provides $780,000 for upgrades to the iconic Queens Park tennis courts in partnership with the Ipswich District Junior Tennis Association, $150,000 for grandstands at the Musketeers Baseball Club, and $800,000 for new lighting at Rosewood Showgrounds. The Redbank Plains Library car park will be extended with $550,000 allocated, and $2.9 million will upgrade the Kilcoy indoor sports centre.
Housing remains a key focus, with $73.2 million invested to improve social and community housing across Ipswich.
Cost of living support will be delivered through $100 Back to School Boost vouchers, $200 Play On! sports vouchers, and new nation-leading programs to help Queenslanders own a home.
