Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025 is officially underway following an opening ceremony on board the HMAS Adelaide earlier this afternoon!�With over 35,000 personnel from 19 nations, this year marks the 11th and largest iteration of Australia's premier warfighting exercise.

Encompassing air, land, sea, space and cyber domains, training activities will be conducted across Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia, New South Wales and Christmas Island. Talisman Sabre 2025 also marks a series of firsts including the use of Australia's new UH-60M Black Hawks, the utilisation of Papua New Guinea for training exercises and the participation of the UK's Prince of Wales Carrier Strike Group.

In the buildup to Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025, RAAF Base Edinburgh have welcomed a very unique visitor earlier this week. Operated by the United States Air Force 55th Wing, this RC-135W '62-4130' Joint Rivet arrived from Offutt Air Force Base, island hopping via Honolulu and Guam.

The RC-135W is a surveillance and reconnaissance platform operating in SIGNT and ELINT domain. With nine of these aircraft in service, they are routinely deployed throughout Asia, Europe and the Middle East in support of global operations.

The Night Stalkers return to Australia!

In the build up to Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025, a pair of MH-47G Block II Chinooks have been spotted crossing the country over the last week. Operated by the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), these highly modified Chinooks are utilised for a variety of specialised attack, assault, and reconnaissance missions.

Returning for their third consecutive iteration of Talisman Sabre, these aircraft are expected to remain in the country over the coming weeks with the exercise officially starting on the 13th of July.

Singaporean Hercs are a regular sight over the skies of RAAF Base Richmond and regional New South Wales this month as part of an annual Republic of Singapore Air Force deployment.

Running from the 3rd of April until 2nd June, the detachment are utilising drop zones, airfields and airspace across the region. This deployment also allows for integration with the Australian Army's 176 Air Dispatch Squadron.

The largest NATO exercise of 2025, Exercise Ramstein Flag, wraps up today after two weeks of tactical-level flying over the skies of Europe. We joined the Multinational Multirole Tanker Transport Unit (MMU) at Eindhoven Air Base for a first-hand look at NATO’s aerial refuelling capabilities during a media flight.

Turning up the heat yesterday at the Australian International Airshow with the PACAF F-16 Demonstration Team and F-22 Raptor Demo Team making their maiden displays in the skies above Avalon Airport!

Today's fourth and final trade day switches the pace from midday as gates open to the public for the first of three public days.

An action packed day one at the 2025 Australian International Airshow! The Royal Australian Air Force kept trade day visitors entertained as part of the Australian Defence Force Showcase.

Gates open to the public on midday Friday with the public airshow running through till Sunday.

One more sleep till the start of the 2025 Australian International Airshow! Flying action was plentiful today with a variety of assets from the Royal Australian Air Force and Royal Australian Navy seen here putting on a show. Airshow arrivals will continue tomorrow with the much anticipated USAF and PACAF contingent!

French Navy Rafales touch down in Australia!

A trio of Rafale M fighter jets from the French Navy (Aéronautique Navale) have been spotted at RAAF Base Darwin, marking their presence in Australia’s top end as the French Carrier Strike Group sails through the Indian Ocean. The group, led by the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier, is currently participating in Exercise La Perouse 25, a major multinational military exercise focused on the Indo-Pacific region.

The Charles de Gaulle’s embarked Air Wing Carrier consists of up to 30 aircraft, including the Rafale M, E-2C Hawkeye, and a variety of naval helicopters. Australia's HMAS Hobart has also joined the exercise, which kicked off last week and will conclude on Friday.

Some of the many aerial assets being used to fight the wildfires around the Los Angeles area.

Saturday January 11 was a massive day for the fleet, with Large Air Tankers (LATs) such as 10 Tanker Air Carrier's Tanker 912 and 914 performing nonstop fire retardant drops to prevent the Palisades Fire from encroaching on residential areas to the north of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.

In parallel, rotary wing operators were putting out the flames across multiple fronts in the Palisades and Eaton Fires, refilling from reservoirs around the metropolitan area.
