Dog of the Week:

Hello there… I’m Elliot, and I’d really love to tell you a bit more about myself. When I first arrived at the rural pound, I was completely shut down and so frightened of everything. Life felt very big and very scary back then. But since coming into care, I’ve slowly discovered that the world isn’t all bad — and that people can be kind and gentle.

I’ve come a long way, but I still need a very special kind of home. I’m looking for a quiet, peaceful place with minimal visitors and no other animals. I find the outside world pretty overwhelming, so I need someone experienced who understands nervous dogs and can help me build my confidence slowly, in my own time.

Once I trust you, though… that’s when my true self shines. I’m playful, cuddly, and full of love for the people I feel safe with. I’ll happily snuggle up next to you, give you gentle kisses, and stick by your side like your own little shadow. Being close to my humans is my favourite thing in the whole world.

I’m not suited to homes with children, as too much noise and movement can make me anxious. What I really need is a calm environment with patient humans who understand that going at my pace is the key to helping me flourish.

If you’re someone kind, experienced, and ready to give a sensitive boy the time he needs to grow braver day by day, then I think we could be perfect for each other. I may be shy at first, but once I feel safe, I have a lifetime of affection and loyalty to give.

Maybe you could be the person who shows me the world isn’t so scary

Landlords and property managers are also welcome to comment. Have rental increases affected your tenants or your own situation?

Your insights will help us better understand what is happening on the ground in our suburbs.
