It was a joy to share a story about this lovely local small business - Compassion Oriented House Call Grooming Service.

Many thanks to the reader who suggested them for a business spotlight!

We truly value your pet’s well-being and want every grooming experience to be a positive one. That’s why each session is carefully tailored to your dog’s individual needs, never rushed.

To animals, slow means calm. Fast feels stressful.
To us, your pet’s comfort is everything.

The Mary Valley Voice was the brainchild of Veronika and Glen Spicer in 1991. The community newspaper was established because all the wonderful happenings in the district received little recognition or publicity from the then print media and a locally produced publication may well fill that void. The first black and white edition hit the streets on December 6 1991.

In 2025 two thousand five hundred copies in brilliant colour are now printed every month. The management committee of the Mary Valley Community News Association Incorporated pays Australia Post to deliver each issue to letter boxes across the distribution area from Dagun to Conondale and all places in between. 250 copies are delivered to the IGA in Cooroy. All this has a financial cost of almost $6,000 per month to cover printing, publication and distribution which has to be met through advertising as can been seen in any print media.

In addition, each issue is uploaded to the Issuu website and may be read online. In the last 30 days on the Issuu platform we have had 799 impressions and 160 reads. A large number of the online readers were from Australia but statistical analysis has also shown that interest in our publication has also come from people in France, the United States of America, (including Alaska – excluding Canada), Greece and somewhere in South America.

These statistics show that The Mary Valley Voice is read in places far beyond the Mary Valley and may still be one of the best ways to promote our community groups, our township, our district and the region to the world. This can be done by reporting all the interesting events that regularly occur in our community - in our community newspaper.

Community groups are invited to submit up to 350 words about their association free of charge remembering that any advertising for an upcoming event requires some financial donation from the group – from as little as $60.
