Creating a project from scratch is always exciting and fun, yet also challenging, and there’s a lot of work and planning that goes into it.

Around a year ago, I started developing my new solo moniker, Cerro — coming up with a concept and name, finding an identity and sound, building a strategy to launch everything, and most importantly, producing the music.

After all this time behind the scenes, I’m really excited to finally start sharing the music I’ve been producing lately.

My debut EP, The Infinite Hum, is now available for pre-order across different platforms — links in bio.

This EP explores the dub, downtempo, and Balearic side of the Cerro sound, which felt like the right place to begin. I’m also really excited to share my take on house music and other sounds further down the line.

Massive thanks to for believing in my music, for being such an admin wizard, and for the killer artwork.

Release date is June 22nd. We’ll also be sharing some news soon about the launch event.

Continuing the journey of sharing past projects I genuinely feel proud of — work I’ve co-produced for over the years — this time it’s ChordPlay, our first full-length studio album, released last year.

The music for this album was produced between 2021 and 2024. With this project, we wanted to explore our take on club music while still keeping the musicality that Lay Down The Groove is known for.

The time to share new solo music is getting closer, but before diving into that, I wanted to take a moment to share some of the music I genuinely feel proud of — work I’ve co-produced for Lay Down The Groove over the years.

First up is Pursuit Of Sound, a 5-track EP released in 2021. This was a really fun project to work on, as we explored different sounds and influences across genres. The result is a versatile record that works both on the dancefloor and for listening.

Even though most of you already know about Lay Down The Groove and my work around it, I still wanted to share this here because this project has shaped so much of who I am creatively.

Back in late 2014, and I got together with the idea of creating a platform to release our own music and push the sound we believed in — along with music from other artists we connected with. By early 2016, the label officially launched.

It’s been almost 10 years now — a lot of work, a lot of learning, and honestly just figuring things out as I went. LDG has taught me so much, not only about music but about everything that comes with running a project like this.

I’m really grateful for all of it, and it feels like the right moment to start a side project of my own.

𝒞𝑒𝓇𝓇𝑜 is that new chapter — something I’m building slowly on the side — but LDG is still my main home and the heart of everything I do.

Forever part of the story.

Introducing my new solo music project:

𝓒𝓮𝓻𝓻𝓸
/𝓈𝑒𝒽·𝓇𝓇𝑜𝒽/

𝒞𝑒𝓇𝓇𝑜 refers to a type of mountain in Spanish — a term that’s always held meaning for me. I was born and raised in Bogotá, a city surrounded by them.

There’s always been something special about them for me — they’re constant and grounding, yet always changing.

Back in Bogotá, I’d see them every day on my way to work or study, always there in the background. I got used to having them around. When I moved to Melbourne, not seeing them anymore felt strange at first. And now, every time I go back home, seeing them again brings the same sense of calm and joy.

Studio Balcony ( ) helped me bring this idea to life visually. Inspired by topographic maps, we created a visual identity that reflects that sense of landscape and movement.

Through 𝒞𝑒𝓇𝓇𝑜, I’ll be exploring the sounds and influences that have shaped me over the years — from dub to Balearic, to house and electro.

For now, the focus is on producing music, recording mixes, and slowly shaping the project’s direction. I’ll play gigs occasionally, though I’m still figuring out how the DJ side will fit in.

There’s a lot to come — a couple of EPs lined up for early next year, and more projects already taking form.
