I came to a lot of realisations last year. It was a life changing year for better words.
I’ve always been a bit of an ocean boy, even though I didn’t move to the coast until 4 years ago.
It was always my safe space to escape to. To experience the silence that no where else seemed to give me.
Funnily enough on this trip last year, I found myself craving the ocean and coastline less, and being so incredibly drawn to the mountains.
I still wanted to swim all the time, but hiking down a steep trail into a glacial river surrounded by mountains had begun to invigorate me like nothing else had.
There’s a significant silence that hovers in the mountains. It’s different to any other type of silence. It allows thoughts and feelings to flow unobstructed.
I was lucky enough to experience a lot of mountain ranges and hikes I’d never been to before, and boy did I fill up my cup.
Here’s a couple of moments from a peaceful evening at 2200m on the border of Bosnia and Montenegro. The peace faded into the night as high winds starved me into a sleepless night.
