Spring pasture can change quickly and so can what it provides.

A green paddock doesn’t always mean stock are getting everything they need.

Before switching supplementary feed off, ask:

👉Is there enough pasture available?
👉Is it providing enough energy and protein?
👉Are they getting the minerals they need, including enough magnesium?
👉What are the nutritional demands of the stock?
👉Are they maintaining condition and hitting your growth targets?

Mineral deficiencies can have serious consequences, including an increased risk of hypomagnesaemia when magnesium supply is inadequate.

Use pasture to do more of the work, just make sure it can actually do the job.

Details matter…

Feed intake, nutrient delivery and feeding management all play a role in supporting consistent production and feed efficiency.

If something needs building, fixing or fabricating...Jordan’s your man.

Our in house Mr Fix It, Jordan is a qualified boilermaker who spends his days building new gear, repairing machinery and fixing just about everything the rest of us manage to break.

If it’s made of steel, chances are Jordan can make it better.

Jordan is a keen race car driver, an accomplished cyclist and somehow still finds time to tackle marathons.

Safe to say he puts the rest of us to shame!

We’re lucky to have someone with his skills, work ethic and willingness to tackle any job that comes his way 💪

If growth rates are slowing, feed conversion is slipping

Your stock are taking longer to reach the market, it may be time to reassess whether your ration is supplying enough usable energy for the job.

Understanding energy and protein requirements isn’t just about nutrition, it’s about economics.

In confinement feeding, we often see both underfeeding and overfeeding.

A 50kg ewe may only need around 7–8MJ of energy per day for maintenance, while a lactating ewe can require more than double that.

Feed below requirements and performance suffers.

Feed well above requirements and you’re often just increasing feed costs.

The goal isn’t to feed more. It’s to feed what’s required.
Because every kilogram of feed should be working for you.

Meet Imogen – otherwise known around the mill as Ponty’s work wife. 😅

If Ponty needs something done, she’s usually the first person he calls. And if she doesn’t already have the answer, she’ll find it and follow it through.

Behind the scenes, Imogen works alongside Courtney playing a key role in keeping Kojonup Feeds compliant, organised and running smoothly:

👉 HR & team support
👉 Health & safety compliance
👉 Policies & procedures
👉 FeedSafe audits
👉 Truck accreditations
👉 Payroll (and constantly chasing the team for their timesheets 👀)

Originally from Manchester, England, Imogen now calls Kojonup home with her husband and their two kids.

When she’s not keeping everyone in line at work, you’ll find her in the garden, scrapbooking, dreaming up her next home DIY project… or catching up over a good chat (she’s always the first to know what’s going on! 😉)

People often see the finished pellet... but there’s a lot that happens before it gets there.

It starts with carefully sourcing our raw ingredients.

From there, every batch goes through our formulation process, precise manufacturing and strict quality checks.

The way we manufacture our pellets is designed to maximise digestibility, helping livestock get more from every mouthful while delivering a consistent, high quality product.

At the end of the day, consistency matters and so does knowing exactly what you’re feeding your livestock.

It’s all part of producing quality feed you can rely on... every single batch 🙌🏻
