Happy 35th birthday to Purnululu School! For 35 years, PAICS has been nurturing strong young people through Gija language, culture and community-led learning, with generations of families helping shape the school into what it is today.

Inspired by Miriwoong Country, the collection shares stories through contemporary fashion while honouring culture, community and caring for Country.

From requesting songs as a young girl to becoming one of the station's familiar voices, Natalia shares her journey into broadcasting, why local stories deserve local voices, and the importance of preserving the knowledge of Elders.

We're excited to share our special July edition, dedicated to celebrating 50 years of NAIDOC Week 🖤💛❤️

Every feature in this edition highlights First Nations stories, people and creatives who continue to shape this region into what it is today.

We're incredibly grateful to Mirima Dawang Woorlab-gerring for bringing this edition to life by providing Miriwoong translations (including a translation for our own name, Kununurra Sun!)

We’d also like to extend our thanks to Waringarri Aboriginal Arts for kindly allowing us to showcase the incredible artwork of Peggy Griffiths on the front and back covers.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who contributed to bringing this edition together.

When Small Town Pride premiered in Kununurra last year, we were proud to share the story behind this powerful local documentary.

Now, we’re revisiting the film as it celebrates national success - taking home multiple awards for its heartfelt portrayal of community, courage and belonging.

Created by Nathan Dyer and Timbee Photography, Small Town Pride is proving that stories from small towns can make a big impact 🎬

With vibrant red rosella plants popping up all over the place, we were inspired by the Blak Tapas Impact Group to make our own rosella jam.

Last year, Temali Howard of Blak Tapas Impact Group worked with Year 11 and 12 students through the Me & My Future program, which led to the Rosella Jam Enterprise Project.

Students harvested rosellas, cooked, budgeted, branded and created their own jam to sell at school. Along the way, they gained valuable skills, confidence and a taste
for business and bush foods.
