On our way to Bremer Bay and thereโ€™s so much of this vibrant ground cover especially in burnt areas. Plant is Kennedia coccinea, commonly known as Coral Vine or Coral Pea Creeper. Just spectacular carpets of it!

๐ƒ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐๐ฌ๐œ๐š๐ฉ๐ž, ๐›๐ฎ๐ญ ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฒ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐จ๐ซ๐œ๐ก๐ข๐ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ž๐ฌ!

Day two of our orchid hunting in the Stirling's took us to nearby Cranbrook. With everything looking so dry, we werenโ€™t sure what weโ€™d find - but there were plenty of surprises!

Our first stop had lots of ๐ฐ๐ก๐ข๐ญ๐ž ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ข๐๐ž๐ซ, and ๐›๐ž๐ž ๐จ๐ซ๐œ๐ก๐ข๐๐ฌ - a fav of mine. Singles, clustersโ€ฆ I just couldnโ€™t stop photographing them! ๐Ÿ˜‚ They are just too cute and look like tiny little giraffes. ๐Ÿฆ’๐ŸŒฟ

Our second location, well known for the ๐‰๐จ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฉ๐ก ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ข๐๐ž๐ซ ๐จ๐ซ๐œ๐ก๐ข๐, was even more productive. It wasnโ€™t quite as spectacular as previous years, but there was still heaps of variety to enjoy.

Here in this burnt area, hundreds of Red Beak Orchids, also known as Fire Orchids, have appeared. Iโ€™ve never seen anything like it in my life. Nature really is incredible. โค๏ธ

I always love returning to bluff knoll and the Stirling Ranges. Standing at the lookout watching the sun go down, Iโ€™m trying to take in every momentโ€ฆ knowing itโ€™ll be a good long while before weโ€™re back in WA ๐Ÿฅน

The Stirlings certainly werenโ€™t making things easy earlier this week! So, I thought Iโ€™d show you the real, less edited side of orchid photography.

Orchids not centred, focus slightly off, sneaky sticks and grasses appearing where you didnโ€™t notice them, and the occasional orchid missing a limb thanks to the weather! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ˜…

Could more editing have saved some of these? Maybe! But honestly, itโ€™s all part of the fun and sometimes nature just likes to test your committement to your art.

I know itโ€™s a little different from my usual travel posts, but I promise - thereโ€™s absolutely nothing boring about these incredible little beauties. ๐ŸŒธ

Their intricate structures are designed to attract specific pollinators, and in spider orchids, itโ€™s the labellum that fascinates me most. The colours, patterns and delicate fringes on Chapman, Joseph and White Spider Orchids are simply mesmerising.

Theyโ€™re an absolute joy to photograph - and capturing those tiny details is what I love most. ๐Ÿ“ธ๐ŸŒฟ
