Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester says he’s ‘pleased with the progress’ on the next critical stage of the Krauatungalung Walk (KW) in Lakes Entrance.

Local firm DesignCo Builders has won the contract for the ‘missing link’ section of boardwalk which will connect the esplanade pathway with the existing track behind the Eastern Beach Caravan Park.

More than 80 people gathered at the Mechanics Hall in Lakes Entrance last Saturday afternoon to hear fire behaviour scientist Dr Philip Zylstra challenge one of the most repeated ideas in Australian fire management: that the weight of leaf litter on the forest floor is what makes a bushfire dangerous.

Lakes Entrance will head into the East Gippsland Football Netball League thirds grand final as a short-priced favourite this Saturday at the Bairnsdale City Oval.

The Seagulls, who are the defending champions, will be in search of their 14th consecutive victory when they take on Lindenow in a replay of last year’s decider.

📸 Harris Bennett was outstanding in last season's thirds premiership win for Lakes Entrance, and he will be eager to put in a similar performance when the Seagulls take on the Cats again this Saturday in search of back-to-back flags.
