Navarre Primary School has proudly announced the appointment of Matthew Smith as its new substantive principal, marking an exciting new chapter for the school community.

“Matt has been working with us for a short while now as the acting principal and has already made some fantastic progress around our grounds and in our classrooms,” the school shared in a statement.

Mr Smith takes over from long-serving and much-respected principal Sue Slater – a transition the school acknowledges comes with big shoes to fill.

However, the community has expressed full confidence in Matt’s leadership and vision moving forward. “We are all thrilled to have him as the new leader of our school community.”

Pyrenees Shire Council has slashed roadside grass in Crowlands, Landsborough, Barkly and Moonambel, with Natte Yallock and Avoca next. 🌱

🚜 Our roadside slashing program started in the northern part of the Shire last week. Crowlands, Landsborough, Barkly and Moonambel are now finished.

👷 Our contractors will move to Natte Yallock, Avoca and surrounds.

Once the northern part of the Shire is finished, the slashing program will stop for short while.

The Landsborough Public Hall features a statue of explorer William Landsborough, after whom the town was named.

He was born in Ayrshire, Scotland in 1825. In 1861, he was chosen by the Victorian and Queensland Governments to lead a search for missing explorers Burke and Wills.
