Information Minister Michael Makuei, the regime’s loudspeaker, made a statement that left every honest South Sudanese shaking their head. He said:

> “When a journalist comes to you, don’t be suspicious. Take him as a colleague, a brother, a sister seeking information that will help us in the government of South Sudan—help us as South Sudanese, help us resolve our issues.”

But the truth is, we have mountains of evidence showing that Makuei’s preaching is pure hypocrisy. This is the same man who has spent years attacking, intimidating, and censoring the very journalists he now pretends to embrace. His record speaks louder than his words—he has desecrated the sanctity of South Sudan’s journalism while trying to dress himself as its defender.

لقد رأيتم كيف يستخدم النظام القضاء كسلاح ضد الدكتور رياك مشار وضد مجتمع النوير بأسره. هذه ليست عدالة، بل انتقام قبلي لإسكات صوت الحرية.
نقول بوضوح: لا يمكن بناء السلام على الظلم، ولا يمكن تحقيق الوحدة بقمع الآخرين.
لن ينكسر شعبنا. لن نُسكت. هذه التهم الباطلة لن توقف مسيرتنا نحو الحرية والكرامة.
