Another cold night ahead of us!

These Cold mornings are expected to hang around through the early half of the new week but things should become more mild towards Thursday and Friday.

Watch our for icy roads tonight into Monday morning as well as areas of fog!

Two for the price of one 😂

Two unprepared walkers have been rescued after becoming stranded on the Bluff River Gorge Track near Buckland.

The pair, 30yo and 28yo, raised the alarm about 5pm yesterday with just 15% phone battery remaining and no maps or torches.

A police ground search and rescue team located them several hours later, cold but safe, and escorted them out.

Authorities say the incident highlights the dangers of poor preparation and are reminding bushwalkers to carry essentials such as maps, torches, food, water and emergency communication devices.

Road Weather Alert for Tasmania
for Central Plateau forecast district
Issued at 11:06 pm EST on Saturday 16 August 2025.

Icy roads will make driving conditions dangerous during Saturday evening and Sunday morning on susceptible roads in parts of the Central Plateau forecast district.

For information on any road closures, please contact your local council or the Police.

Hopefully we might get some more rain in before the summer dry out.

A negative Indian Ocean Dipole could bring us some rainfall during most of spring typically bringing more moisture within cloud bands in from NW Australia with above average rainfall only about the North and Northeast and East Coast based on the boMs next 3 month outlooks. ☔

Unfortunately the West Coast and Southwest looking quite dry.

Southern Annular Mode is positive but it will be very short lived retuning back to neutral over the next 2 weeks.

El Niño nor La Niña are expected to form untll early next year nothing happening there in the latest outlooks.

So I reckon it's going to be a fairly active bushfire season by late December into early next year particularly in the South and West by the time that all dries up.
