THANK YOU everyone that came out to our end of year party and celebrated with us like the true freaks you are.
As always the night is a blur, the bands were amazing, the atmosphere was electric and our bodies still hurt.

I have to start with a huge thank you to Rose from Dead End Design & James for spending soo many hours hand painting the amazing backdrop - we will figure out a way to display it at the studio.
To Planet Music for donating the guitar, Alako for making everyone sound good, Secrets of the flame for the fire show, Cat Reid, Robyn & Ella (The Red Ravens) for running door and merch, Mario from Howl & Moan Records and his team of freaks spinning vinyl outside, Spangled Drongo Brewery for the beer, all our friends that helped load in and out of the Bowlo and everyone for putting the effort in and dressing up as wonderful freaks!!

Lastly the amazing LisaG Photography for capturing it all. Here are just a few shots for now.

Love from the Nedlands Studio Team
Ned, Nev, Cate & Elise

🎪Passengers🎪

On the eve of the Nedlands Studio Party, we present to you The Passengers — a band with more aliases than a dodgy Facebook Marketplace seller. Formerly Panic Button, Gravel Rash, and Silver Hair, these geriatric wonders have been staggering onto stages for far, far too long. Like… pushing 30 years too long. Bones crack, knees wobble, and yet somehow they persist.
Known for clearing out the Gollan or the Tatts (R.I.P.) with the efficiency of a fire drill, their slowly fossilising bodies are doing their best to keep up with their ever-expanding ambitions. Some might even say their ambition outweighs their talent. But hey — that’s exactly why they fit so beautifully on this bill of freaks, misfits, and other people who refuse to age gracefully.
What do The Passengers sound like? Honestly, sort of like if the producers of The Jerry Springer Show hired an Australian punk band to write a theme song that was meant to play during the most chaotic family fight of the episode. Loud, unhinged, nostalgic, and weirdly inspiring — kind of like watching your uncles start a circle pit at Christmas lunch.
They’re messy. They’re noisy. They’re confusingly enthusiastic.
And somehow, they’re still here.
Strap in. You might witness history, or at the very least, a hip dislocation in real time.

See you tomorrow at the Lismore City Bowlo

🎪 MASOCHIST🎪

Ma*****st is a hardcore punk band with a socially conscious message of empowerment and inclusivity. Lyrically tackling things such as sexual assault, mental illness & misogyny in the music scene the band brings a raw look at things in the hopes to bring positive action from these negatives

But don’t let the seriousness trick you into thinking they’re normal. Live, Ma*****st becomes a full-blown paranormal disturbance. The riffs don’t just shake the room — they warp the air density

Ma*****st sound is big, it’s loud, it’s riffs, it’s animalistic drums, it’s power and sometimes it’s even good

🎪Mopoke🎪

Mopoke’s sound has been described as a potent blend of post-punk and synth-pop, but honestly that doesn’t even begin to cover whatever unidentifiable sonic vapour is happening here. It’s like Destroyer wandered into the Grey’s Anatomy theme song, fell through a trapdoor, and woke up in a dream sequence narrated by a haunted Casio keyboard.

Their music is raw and gritty at the bottom, ethereal and floaty on top — like a dystopian tiramisu built by freaks. The vocals drift in sounding angelic and then leave you questioning your life choices, your childhood, and whether you’ve actually been awake this whole time.

When they’re not losing their phone in Peru (true story, ask them), Mopoke are… well, I honestly don’t know what they’re doing, and neither do they, frankly.

Catch Mopoke before they vanish back into whatever synth-fog dimension they slipped out of.

🎪 Howl & Moan DJ 🎪
Mario has been running Howl & Moan Records for almost a decade, which in record-store years is roughly the lifespan of a small mountain. At this point he’s less a shop owner and more a folklore creature haunting Lismore’s music scene — a benevolent vinyl cryptid.
Howl & Moan’s in-store shows have become a rite of passage for emerging bands — sweaty, chaotic, glorious little gigs that are always among the funnest nights you’ll ever stumble into.
When he’s not running the record store, organising shows, or watching motorsport, Mario raids his eclectic vinyl stash and DJs at only the most prestigious events… like this one. Expect a rotating cast of freaks jumping behind the decks with him — invited or not.
Career highlight? Sure, handing Loris Capirossi the Italian flag at the 1996 Australian Motorcycle GP is iconic. (Evidence on youtube) But honestly, surviving a decade of retail while maintaining a fully human form might be the greater achievement.
Howl & Moan will be controlling the outdoor stage between bands, spinning vinyl like circus plate jugglers possessed by a slightly confused demon. If a portal opens mid-set, just step around it. Happens all the time.

🎪NAZARÉ 🎪

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if psychedelic daydreams, R&B smoothness, and heavenly pop melodies all got together and formed a cult… well, these freaks beat you to it — and now you get to witness it live.
Nazare’s music floats between cosmic soundscapes and addictive hooks — the kind that stick to your brain like glitter you can’t wash off. (If you can hear the glitter… congratulations, you’re either enlightened or in medical danger.)
Nazaré brings vocals that drift, melt, shimmer… and then suddenly smack you with a line that makes you feel feelings. Next thing you know, you’re slow-dancing with the freak next to you.
Step into the Nazaré dimension.
Hope you make it back, glitter brain

We hosted our first in-house screen printing workshop at the studio for service, and the crew absolutely smashed it.

Working with , the students created their own designs and hand-printed them onto shirts from start to finish.
From exposing screens to pulling their first print to curing the final result — these boys nailed every step.

We are planning to run more screen printing workshops next year so keep an eye out

🎪 THUNDER GOD OF THE MULTIVERSE 🎪

Not many bands have freakier names — and even fewer live up to theirs — but Thunder God of the Multiverse absolutely do.

Born from the twisted musical minds of brothers Leon and Ollie Blythe, TGMV first appeared in 2009, recording their debut demo in a rainforest party house that was probably held together by mould, cigarette smoke, and sheer delusion. Somehow, that demo spread through Lismore and convinced everyone that these musical maniacs were a band worth taking seriously.

With influences like Frank Zappa, you never really know what you’re going to get when the Thundergods plug in — a prog odyssey, a psychedelic meltdown, or something that feels like a wormhole opening. But what you will get is a show. On stage they’re one of the most wildly entertaining bands you’ll see — chaotic, unhinged, and, about 50% of the time, the tightest band on Earth.

Catch Thunder God of the Multiverse at the Nedlands Studio Party, 13th December at the Lismore City Bowlo.
