After 6 months of exciting travel I am back in Vietnam for the time being, but of course, like probably many of you traveling again is on my mind. I'm currently sifting through 1000s of images both from camera and phone, sorting video clips, and star rating images for use throughout the year. I'm also pretty ruthless with the culling as storage is expensive and boy do I need a lot especially so because I take a lot of video clips to use in short form on our Girls on the Loose pages (Facebook & Tiktok).
BUT ... what's been front of mind this past week is EGYPT! I feel a tug to return. Its history always beckons. I was looking through images from 2 years ago when I was last there leading a fabulous group and thought YEP let's go to Egypt again later this year. Anyone have a yearning for Egypt, anyone up for an affordable tour? Drop me a DM and let's chat. I'm thinking October or November 2025.

I first visited Laos in 1998, and then I travelled back here several times before moving to the country in 2003. I helped Lonely Planet update many of their guides on Laos in the late 90s.
I lived and worked in the capital Vientiane for 3 years. I was Head of Kindergarten at a bilingual school. Yes, my degrees are in education.
Back in those days there was no development, the country was untouched, the landscapes were pristine.
There was only one shop in the whole of the capital city. You had to buy anything you wanted/needed from the wet market. The roads weren’t paved and very few visitors passed through.
Of course today it’s a very different story, but it’s still very laid back and underdeveloped although now there are hotels, many stores and even a mall of sorts in Vientiane and finding the less developed places requires some intrepid travel, patience and hardship. But it’s well worth it because these amazing travel experiences are fast disappearing. I’m currently in Laos as I write this putting the finishing touches on my one x one tour which starts on Monday. I had to physically come to Laos to prepare for my guest. Here things can’t sufficiently be done online. We’ll be going off grid and into the mountains, as well as to many other special spots across Indochina on this 3 week trip, but I think it’s Laos that will stay with my guest the longest ❤️🇱🇦❤️🇱🇦

Merry Christmas 🎄 and a Happy New Year to everyone who’s followed my journey and photography this past year! Also, a huge thank you to those who chose to travel with me to - Vietnam in March, Ladakh in September, Jordan in October and Iraq in November 🙏
I have some great ideas for 2025, and good news I have 6 travelers already booked over 2 trips for a 3.5 week tour across SE Asia in February, and then a 2 week tour in Vietnam in March.
2025 is starting off on the right foot.
I’m currently in Hungary 🇭🇺 eager to get home in a couple of days. Here are some phone shots I’ve taken on my travels overland from Istanbul to Budapest. Cheers all 🍻

During part of that month of travel I spoke of in my previous post I spent leading an adventurous and well-traveled photographer on a dream location. Now this country truly is in its infancy when it comes to tourism. It’s been through 40+ years of war and/or upheaval- wars with Iran, Kuwait, the USA, Britain, the Kurds,the USA again, a civil war and then finally the most brutal war to rid the country of ISIS.
Many have grown up not knowing much else, but I can tell you that everyone is done fighting and is optimistic about the future. This incredible country we had the pleasure to visit was IRAQ. Iraq is the Cradle of Civilisation, the birthplace of writing, reading and arithmetic.
There are so many historical sites to visit and most are still abandoned, just sitting there waiting for ‘YOU to discover’ them. Can you imagine cuneiform text on tablets and bricks just lying in the sand? Amazing 6,000 year old cities like Babylon awaiting your visit? Rivers Tigris and Euphrates, the heart of Mesopotamia, anyone with a semblance of education will be blown away by this destination. And this is before I mention the people and the food, absolute gems!
So do consider Iraq for your next adventure and get in contact for October 2025.
