CO***NE, DANGEROUS DRIVING, AND ASSAULT LANDS MAN IN LITHGOW COURT | MOVE FM NEWS

LITHGOW, Central Tablelands, NSW, Australia - A man has been charged with multiple offences, including assaulting a police officer, after an alleged hit-and-run incident in the state’s Central Tablelands over the weekend.

Police say a van was spotted driving suspiciously and attempting to avoid officers on patrol in the Lithgow area around 4pm on Saturday.

The vehicle was eventually stopped on Andrew Street, Bowenfels. However, when a male police officer began speaking with the 42-year-old driver, he allegedly tried to speed away.

As the van took off, the officer was reportedly dragged along the roadway for a short distance. Police allege the driver also attempted to force the officer’s arms out of the vehicle.

The officer fell onto the road, sustaining cuts and bruising. The driver then allegedly continued along the Castlereagh Highway towards Marrangaroo before police were able to stop the vehicle and arrest him.

A subsequent search of the van allegedly uncovered a small plastic bag containing co***ne.

The driver was taken to Lithgow Police Station and charged with possessing a prohibited drug, driving while disqualified, dangerous driving, and assaulting a police officer causing actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail and appeared before the Bail Division Court on Sunday, where bail was formally denied. He is due to face Lithgow Local Court on Thursday. (Move FM News)

58-YEAR OLD WOMAN WHO WENT MISSING IN WEST BATHURST HAS BEEN FOUND | MOVE FM NEWS

A 58-year old woman, who had been missing in Bathurst since Saturday morning, has been located.

Chifley Police shared the news, at the same time thanking those who shared and/or responded to their appeal for assistance in locating the woman.

"A 58-year-old woman missing from West Bathurst has been located safe.," a Chifley Police statement issued Sunday said.
"Police would like to thank those who shared our appeal."

SEARCH FOR MIDDLE-AGED WOMAN IN BATHURST STEPPED UP | MOVE FM NEWS

Police have issued a fresh appeal for public assistance to locate a 58-year-old woman who went missing from the state's Central West region.

Samantha Lord was last seen leaving a hospital on Howick Street, West Bathurst, at around 11.10am on Saturday.

When she could not be located, officers from Chifley Police District were notified and launched inquiries into her whereabouts. Both police and Ms Lord's family hold serious concerns for her welfare.

Investigations have since revealed that Ms Lord may have been spotted at the Armada Shopping Centre on William Street, Bathurst, about 12.22pm on Saturday. She may also have been seen at Bathurst Train Station around 4pm the same day.

Ms Lord is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 152cm tall, with a large build and long blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black pants, black shoes, and with her hair tied in a bun using a red hair tie.

She is known to frequent the Bathurst and Oberon areas.

BOY, 16, AND TWO OTHERS AGED 17, FACE BATHURST COURT ON STRING OF CHARGES | MOVE FM NEWS

Three teenagers have been before the courts this week following a violent car theft and subsequent vehicle fire in Bathurst.

The alleged crime spree began late Wednesday night, when police were called to a home on Clifton Court in the Bathurst suburb of Kelso just before 11pm.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District were told an unknown group had stolen a Nissan SUV from the property. During the theft, the vehicle allegedly crashed into a parked truck, causing significant damage, before the group sped away.

Just hours later, at approximately 1.40am on Thursday, emergency services were called to a paddock near Mcmenamin Place, Kelso, following reports of a car on fire.

Police arrived to find the Nissan SUV fully engulfed in flames. Fire and Rescue NSW crews extinguished the blaze, but the vehicle was destroyed.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 16-year-old boy on Boyd Street, Kelso, around 9am Thursday after a short foot pursuit. He was taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged with several offences. The teenager was refused bail and faced a children’s court on Thursday, where bail was formally refused again.

Extensive investigations led to the arrest of two 17-year-old boys about 3pm Thursday – one at a home in Eglinton and the other in Kelso. Both were taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged with stealing a motor vehicle.

The two 17-year-olds were refused bail and faced a children’s court on Friday.

All three accused are aged between 16 and 17. Their charges include car stealing, driving without a licence, and torching a vehicle.

Police have confirmed their investigations are ongoing.

Tragedy in Orange: Elderly Woman Dies in House Fire

A woman has lost her life following a house fire in the state’s central west.

Emergency services were called to a home on Tynan Street, Orange, around 9.20pm on Sunday (10 May 2026) following reports of a blaze.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews entered the burning building and pulled an unconscious 82-year-old woman from the premises. Bystanders and first responders performed CPR, but she could not be revived and died at the scene.

Police from the Central West Police District have established a crime scene, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.

Authorities have confirmed no one else was inside the home at the time of the incident.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with information about the fire, or who was in the area on Sunday night with dashcam or mobile phone footage, to contact Orange Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. (Move FM News)
