POLICE OFFICER IN LITHGOW DRAGGED ALONG ROADWAY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP VEHICLE | 2LT NEWS

LITHGOW, Central Tablelands, NSW, Australia - A man has been charged with multiple offences, including assaulting a police officer, after an alleged hit-and-run incident in the state’s Central Tablelands over the weekend.

Police say a van was spotted driving suspiciously and attempting to avoid officers on patrol in the Lithgow area around 4pm on Saturday.

The vehicle was eventually stopped on Andrew Street, Bowenfels. However, when a male police officer began speaking with the 42-year-old driver, he allegedly tried to speed away.

As the van took off, the officer was reportedly dragged along the roadway for a short distance. Police allege the driver also attempted to force the officer’s arms out of the vehicle.

The officer fell onto the road, sustaining cuts and bruising. The driver then allegedly continued along the Castlereagh Highway towards Marrangaroo before police were able to stop the vehicle and arrest him.

A subsequent search of the van allegedly uncovered a small plastic bag containing co***ne.

The driver was taken to Lithgow Police Station and charged with possessing a prohibited drug, driving while disqualified, dangerous driving, and assaulting a police officer causing actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail and appeared before the Bail Division Court on Sunday, where bail was formally denied. He is due to face Lithgow Local Court on Thursday. (2LT News)

MISSING BATHURST WOMAN LOCATED | 2LT NEWS

A 58-year old woman, who had been missing in Bathurst over the weekend, has been located.

Chifley Police shared the news, at the same time thanking those who shared and/or responded to their appeal for assistance in locating the woman.

"A 58-year-old woman missing from West Bathurst has been located safe.," a Chifley Police statement issued Sunday said.
"Police would like to thank those who shared our appeal."

CHIFLEY POLICE RENEW APPEAL FOR HELP IN FINDING WOMAN MISSING IN BATHURST | 2LT NEWS

Police have issued a fresh appeal for public assistance to locate a 58-year-old woman who went missing from the state's Central West region.

Samantha Lord was last seen leaving a hospital on Howick Street, West Bathurst, at around 11.10am on Saturday.

When she could not be located, officers from Chifley Police District were notified and launched inquiries into her whereabouts. Both police and Ms Lord's family hold serious concerns for her welfare.

Investigations have since revealed that Ms Lord may have been spotted at the Armada Shopping Centre on William Street, Bathurst, about 12.22pm on Saturday. She may also have been seen at Bathurst Train Station around 4pm the same day.

Ms Lord is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 152cm tall, with a large build and long blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black pants, black shoes, and with her hair tied in a bun using a red hair tie.

She is known to frequent the Bathurst and Oberon areas.
