Thirty years ago, Nigeria suffered the tragic loss of Ken Saro-Wiwa, a distinguished environmentalist, along with eight other Ogoni activists who fought for environmental justice and the protection of rights in the Niger Delta. They were brutally executed through a sham trial orchestrated by the regime of Gen. Sani Abacha in 1995.
Despite this dark chapter, Nigeria and its leaders have yet to fully learn from history. This November, another life may be at risk in the ongoing struggle for self-determination. A judge is set to rule on Nnamdi Kanu's case on November 20, 2025 โ a decision that could perpetuate cycles of injustice and violence.
We honor the legacy of Ken Saro-Wiwa and stand firm that such tragedies must never be repeated.
๐ ๐ Will history repeat itself, or will justice finally prevail for Nnamdi Kanu?
