It’s not every day you receive a letter with a post stamp Buckingham Palace, and Kensington Palace printed on the back of the letter!

TRH Prince & Princess of Wales’ office wrote back thanking me for their copy of The Adventures of Gami Winda and Dyindi-Dyindi.

I wanted to take the opportunity to share the incredible illustrations that primary school children (at the time) were inspired to create from my story.

If you’re a parent / carer or school of one of the illustrators selected, please pass on this information to them.

Award Winner - Bronze (Children's Book Illustrated Category)

So this was a little exciting! The Adventures of Gami Winda and Dyindi-Dyindi won Bronze at the Able Authors Book Awards in Melbourne. 🥉 📕

As I couldn’t be there my amazing friend (and a gold winner in her category), Justine Martin, accepted the award on my behalf.

I want to recognise the incredible judges of the awards - there were lots of books! Without your hard work and dedication reading all of the incredible books, there wouldn’t be awards.

A big thank you to the amazing Sarifa, Hassan and the Able team - what you all do, shining a light on others, is such a beautiful thing.

To the over 1500 primary school children across Australia who brought The Adventures of Gami Winda and Dyindi-Dyindi to life, there would be no book without you. How being part of this story has changed your lives, improved your confidence and built on your self esteem - what a gift for an author. Having parents contact me about how this has made a difference in these young illustrators’ lives is such a gift.

To Kaurna Country where I live, I am honoured to live here, and be inspired by all the beings that reside there too.

Thank you.

Happy, happy dance!

Today marks the beginning of Indigenous Business Month, and this year's theme, ‘Making Your Mark’, is all about celebrating the impact, innovation, and resilience of Indigenous entrepreneurs.

For me, ‘making your mark’ means embracing our unique strengths through collaboration, honouring our cultures, lifting others up and celebrating them, while using our platforms to inspire positive change across our communities. It’s about leaving a legacy that uplifts communities, creates opportunities, and showcases the incredible talent and creativity within the Indigenous business space.

Let’s celebrate, support, collaborate and elevate Indigenous businesses all month long and beyond!

What are three things that you can do?

1. Shop Australian First Nations: Seek out and purchase products or services from Indigenous-owned businesses to support economic growth and sustainability in communities.

2. Amplify Indigenous Voices: Share and promote Indigenous businesses on social media or through word of mouth to help raise awareness and grow each of our customer bases.

3. Attend Indigenous Events: Participate in workshops, markets, or events hosted by Indigenous entrepreneurs to learn more about us and contributions while supporting our ventures directly. Want to know how? Contact your local / State Indigenous Business Hub or Indigenous Chamber of Commerce or visit https://www.indigenousbusinessmonth.com.au/2024-events

Oh my gosh, this is a little exciting!!! ❤️ 📕 📖
