🎬🐾 DID YOU KNOW? ACTING ANIMALS HAVE BEEN ON TELEVISION ALMOST FROM THE VERY BEGINNING!

Here’s a little piece of film history we thought you might enjoy…

Before television was something we could casually switch on at home, engineers were still figuring out how on earth to make moving pictures travel through the air.

And one of the first “stars” they used to help test this brand-new technology was Felix the Cat! 🐱📺

Back in 1928, RCA used a small Felix the Cat figure on a rotating turntable while experimenting with early television. The image that appeared on the receiving screen was only around two inches tall!

So technically, one of the first television stars wasn’t a human actor at all… it was a CAT. 😂

And there’s an Australian connection too — Felix was created by Australian-born animator Pat Sullivan.

Almost 100 years later, animals are still stealing the show. 🐶🐴🐷🐔🦜

That’s why we love what we do at Animal Actors. Animals have a way of bringing something to a production that simply can’t be replicated.

We thought we’d start sharing some of the fascinating stories, facts and characters from the history of animals in film and television.

Ok people, we did an older photo of Sally so we need one for Christine -

🐾 Before Animal Actors… there was Christine! 🐾

Before Animal Actors came along, Christine was already fighting for animals.

This newspaper article from 1970 tells the story of Christine, then a veterinary nurse, taking on the powers that be over an increased registration fee for Alsatians — even rallying around 350 Alsatian owners in Moorabbin!

Apparently, she had been bitten by just about everything except an Alsatian, which she described as being “as gentle as a lamb”. 😂

Over 55 years later, not much has changed — animals have always been a huge part of Christine’s life, and that passion eventually became Animal Actors. ❤️🐾

Every great story has a first scene.

For us, one of those scenes was working with a young Delta Goodrem around the release of her debut album whilst she was filming on neighbours.

None of us could have imagined just how remarkable the next chapters would become. Decades later, it’s wonderful to look back knowing we were there at the start of an in credible journey.

It’s moments like these that remind us how lucky Animal Actors has been to witness the beginnings of so many amazing careers.

She most definitely was -  Born To Try 😁

Not every day is a filming or training day but every day is a good day to spend with animals.
