Kinchant Dam water release
Kinchant Dam in the Pioneer Valley is at 93.7% capacity today after controlled releases into Sandy Creek.
Sunwater says 1700 mega litres was to be released after heavy flows into the dam last week.
The dam holds around 72,000 mega litres.
How impressive is the Pioneer River in flood!
The wet weather is continuing with Tropical North listeners reporting heavy falls of 147mm at Walkerston, 158mm Greenmount, 155mm Cannonvale, 172mm Mia Mia and 144mm at Brandy Creek near Proserpine.
ALLEGED CAR THIEF BITTEN DURING DOG SQUAD ARREST
An alleged car thief has been arrested after police used tyre spikes to stop a stolen car in Koumala yesterday afternoon.
The man was tracked along the Bruce Highway for more than 400km after the Mitsubishi Triton was reported stolen in Benaraby south of Gladstone.
Police allege the 25-year-old Gympie man ran off after the utility was stopped at 2pm and was arrested after a chase by the Dog Squad.
The man was bitten by the police dog during the arrest and was taken to hospital.
Police say the crime spree started on Monday when the man stole a Ford Falcon sedan in Gympie and when police later tried to intercept the car, he allegedly ran over a police officerβs foot before fleeing.
Heβs been charged with nine offences including two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle, property offences, endangering police officer when driving a motor vehicle and serious assault.

Major drug bust in Mackay
π¨π¨ POLICE SEIZE $1-MILLION IN CASH AND DRUGS
A raid on a home in Mount Pleasant late last month has uncovered a massive haul of cocaine, methylamphetamine and cash.
Officers from the Tactical Crime Squad, with the assistance of the dog squad executed a search warrant at the Lachlan Street home.
Three people have been charged with multiple offences and will face court in the coming weeks.

Major flooding possible as heavy rainfall continues
Forecast heavy to intense rainfall has the potential to cause dangerous and rapid river level rises along the Bremer River and Warrill Creek in Queensland today, potentially leading to major flooding.
An initial moderate flood warning has also been issued for the Lockyer and Laidley Creeks.
Gold Coast Acting Mayor Donna Gates says the city has seen "patchy" weather, but "the worst is yet to come".
"We've had winds of up to 120 kilometres per hour expected today and 255 millimetres of rain expected over a six-hour period, so a lot worse to come."
Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell has also urged caution around waterways ahead of more rainfall.
Parts of northern NSW have already experienced major flooding due to ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

Don River in flood
The Don River is expected to rise to minor flood levels at the Bowen Pump Station from Tuesday evening.
The Bureau of Meteorology says minor flooding has eased after moderate to heavy rain in the catchment, however another rise is expected due to forecast rainfall.
Firefighters have been monitoring flooded areas in North Queensland with drones, with some in action around Airlie Beach, Bowen and Eungella.
QFD says the footage helps to identify potential hazards and people in need of assistance.
It has asked people to not fly drones in flood-affected areas because it means they can't fly theirs.
Cars push floodwaters into homes
Heavy rainfall has hit parts of the Mackay city area this morning, with totals of more than 100mm in just a few hours.
Lower lying areas around south, east and west Mackay are affected, with residents frustrated that cars are continuing to drive on flooded roads.
Residents around Kippen Street say motorists are driving, at speed in their neighbourhood, pushing water into their homes.
The Mackay Mayor is urging people to stay off the roads where possible.
The Pioneer River Catchment remains at a minor flood warning this morning as rainfall eases.
A flood warning is also current for the Don and Proserpine rivers.
Weather stations around Mackay recorded between 5-10mm in the 24 hours to 9am while some areas of the Pioneer Valley recorded up to 70mm.
In the Whitsundays Cannonvale received 28mm in the last day, while Up River Road recorded 40mm.
