Sunshine FM 104.9 Sunshine Coast

Sunshine FM 104.9 Sunshine Coast The Sunshine Coast's community radio station
playing the music you love. Sunshine FM is the most listened-to radio station on the Sunshine Coast.

We're a not-for-profit broadcaster supported by community-minded businesses and organisations, right across the Sunshine Coast. We run just five minutes of paid content an hour, compared to 20+ minutes on other stations. For our listeners, that means more music, more memories, more often. For our sponsors, it means we help them reach more people than any other radio station on The Coast. We are al

so supported by wonderful volunteers who provide their time and skills in on-air, production, technical and administrative roles. Please visit our website (sunshinefm.com.au) to find out how you can connect with Sunshine FM as a volunteer, a member, a donor or a sponsor. If you like what we do, spread the word about this great little radio station you've discovered! But most of all, we'd like to thank you for your support. It is always appreciated.

Tonight, on Bob and the Baby Boomers, I'll play a track from the lady pictured who had a string of hits and I'll play her #1 song from 1960. Also tonight, a song that made it to #1 in 1952 and re-released in 1991 and climbed all the way to #2 on the charts. It was on this day in 1958 that Bobby Darin recorded "Splish Splash" so I'll play that song tonight along with songs from Jan & Dean who'll be "Sidewalk Surfin", Wayne Fontana with a solo hit from 1966, Australian band The Loved Ones with their signature song, The Young Rascals want to be with "A Girl Like You" and as usual I'll throw in some nice instrumentals as well including rare ones from The Bar-Kays and The Packabeats. It's another treat for the baby boomers tonight so join me from 8.00pm for 2 hours of music memories and information from the 50's & 60's on 104.9 SunshineFM

Shed (pub) Choir is happening at the Coolum Bowls Club Monday from 6.30pm. Today I'll be talking to Bruce from the Coolum Men's Shed who is one of the organisers about how you can come along and join in the fun.
I'll also be chatting to Barb from The Parkinson's Centre as tomorrow is World Parkinson's Day and there is something special happening at The Parkinson's Centre here on the Coast.
Our Musical Memory today is a song that was very popular in the Happy Days TV series and our Lost 45 is about a time when Japan were the electronics kings.

So, why this photo? You need to be listening today early in my show after 10 to find out 😉.
Today we'll talk travel with Cheryl Ryan and also chat to Angela from the Heritage Department of the SCRC about an amazing collection of historic photos about the Sunshine Coast that we all now have access to.
We have a Beach Boys track to share when we look at anniversaries today and our Lost 45 comes from Pseudo Echo. It's a song about something a lot of us males are accused of not doing by our partners!!
Have a great day!

Tonight, on Bob and the Baby Boomers, a tribute to Johnny Tillotson who died last week at age 86. I'll play a small selection of his songs including a track that he wrote about his father who had a terminal illness. Also tonight, a track from Bob Dylan that he finished writing on this day in 1962, a song from The Supremes that was recorded on this day in 1964 and a song from Sandie Shaw that won her the Eurovision song contest in 1967. It's another great selection of music tonight from the 50's & 60's including tracks from Don Gibson, Bobby Fuller Four, Brian Hyland, Toni Arden and The Young Rascals. So, join me from 8.00pm for 2 hours of "music from a generation" on 104.9 SunshineFM

STATEMENT FROM THE CADD FAMILY

At the end of last week, our dear Brian suffered a haemorrhagic stroke whilst at home on the Gold Coast.

Fortunately, he received medical attention quickly and he is currently under the care of the Gold Coast University Hospital. He is stable and his medical team is monitoring his progress and while it will likely be a long road ahead, he is showing early, encouraging signs.

We’d like to thank the wonderful team looking after him at the Hospital and for everyone’s well wishes.

We will keep everyone updated as his condition improves but we kindly request privacy at this critical time.
