Sunshine FM 104.9 Sunshine Coast

Sunshine FM 104.9 Sunshine Coast The Sunshine Coast's community radio station
playing the music you love. Sunshine FM is the most listened-to radio station on the Sunshine Coast.

We're a not-for-profit broadcaster supported by community-minded businesses and organisations, right across the Sunshine Coast. We run just five minutes of paid content an hour, compared to 20+ minutes on other stations. For our listeners, that means more music, more memories, more often. For our sponsors, it means we help them reach more people than any other radio station on The Coast. We are al

so supported by wonderful volunteers who provide their time and skills in on-air, production, technical and administrative roles. Please visit our website (sunshinefm.com.au) to find out how you can connect with Sunshine FM as a volunteer, a member, a donor or a sponsor. If you like what we do, spread the word about this great little radio station you've discovered! But most of all, we'd like to thank you for your support. It is always appreciated.

First records never leave your heart (or your turntable).

What was yours, and where did you buy it?

Mine? KISS – "Alive". Bought it, played it, wore the grooves thin… and I STILL have it. – Adam

Good Morning! What a gorgeous day!
We will talk travel with Cheryl Ryan today.
I'll tell you how much extra it costs to be a healthy eater however, I'll also tell you how to offset the majority of that cost.
Also on food, what is the food that causes most irritation in people? It varies depending on your age. We'll look at that too.
Our golden years number 1 song today comes from 3 September 1968 and combining the title and artist, you could say it is a dreamy parents song 🤔. I'll play it at around 11.30.

Tonight, on Bob and the Baby Boomers, the pictured artist turns 87 today so I'll play a hit song by him from 1962. Also tonight, a song by The Beatles featuring Billy Preston as he was born on this day in 1946, James Darren, the US actor and singer died on this day in 2024 so, I'll play a song that he recorded in 1961, Hugo Montenegro was also born on this day in 1925 and had a hit song from a movie of the same name in 1968 which I'll play tonight, our Aussie double play in the first hour comes from Normie Rowe & The Playboys and the other from Jeff St John & The Id, Perry Como will be "Catching A Falling Star", The McGuire Sisters with a hit song from 1958, Lonnie Donegan with a song about Lorelei and our Aussie double play in the second hour by Warren Williams with his band The Squares and the other from The Denvermen (I can hear Thel Jacobs cheering already). It’s Legacy Week 💙

Buying one small Legacy badge makes a big impact — every dollar raised goes to support the families of veterans who gave everything for our country.

If you spot volunteers around the Sunshine Coast this week, stop for a chat, grab a badge, and know you’ve made a real difference.

Can’t get there in person?
You can still donate online 👉 https://www.legacy.com.au/legacy-week/

Good Morning and welcome to Spring. A little cloudy as we look up towards Noosa from Coolum Beach.
This coming weekend sees plenty happening across the coast and today I'll be chatting to Dave from the Noosa Car Club about the classic car spectacular happening this Sunday.
Plenty of great music and we'll dig into the archives and find a song from years gone by that was number 1 on September 1.
Have a terrific week - Des

Ah yes, if you were listening earlier you will realise today is Frankenstein Day and before Midday I have to play the Monster Mash 🤣!
This weekend it is Des with until Midday each day. You loved Trish Espin last Saturday so she's back this afternoon after Midday and the ever reliable noddy will join you after Midday tomorrow.
Have a great weekend. Enjoy what's left of winter!

Tonight, on Bob and the Baby Boomers, I'll play the hit song from the pictured band as their drummer turns 88 today. As a session drummer he played on songs for other artists as well including Thunderclap Newman, Dusty Springfield and even on a hit song for Benny Hill (tell you more about this drummer tonight). I'll get the music underway with hit songs for Sonny & Cher and The Supremes, music from Buddy Holly, Roger Miller and Bobby Darin, an Aussie double play in the first hour from The Twilights featuring Glenn Shorrock and the other from The Denvermen, Frankie Vaughan with a song about the "Garden Of Eden" and Patty Duke with a OHW from 1965 (yes it is the lady who was an actress and had her own TV show The Patty Duke Show). Plenty of great music memories and information from the 50's & 60's tonight so join me from 8.00pm on 104.9 SunshineFM or on the iHeart Radio app
