It was on this day in 1935 that Jerry Lee Lewis (aka The Killer) was born so tonight, on Bob and the Baby Boomers I'll play one of his hits from 1957 and it was also on this day in 1939 that Tommy Boyce was born so I'll play one of the hit songs with his songwriting partner Bobby Hart tonight as well. Buddy Holly recorded "Maybe Baby" on this day in 1957, Jackie Wilson passed away on this day in 1984, so I'll play one of his songs. We also lost Mac Davis on this day in 2020 who amongst his hit songs was "Baby Don't Get Hooked On Me" and "It's Hard To Be Humble" and also wrote some hit songs for Elvis Presley so I'll play one of those songs by Elvis tonight as well. I'll kick start the music tonight with a #7 hit for The Rolling Stones, music also by Credence Clearwater Revival, Ray Brown & The Whispers will kick start the second hour and Bob Dylan with a song that includes the numbers 12 & 35 in the title of the song but does not include those numbers anywhere in the lyrics of the song. Tonight, on Bob and the Baby Boomers, I'll play a song from American girl trio The Angels as two sisters in the trio were both born on this day in 1940 and 1942. Gerry Marsden from Gerry & The Pacemakers was also born on this day in 1942 so I'll play one of their hit songs, Wilbert Harrison will take us to "Kansas City", Ronnie Burns with a song from 1969, Cilla Black with her 2nd hit song from 1964 that climbed to #1 on the charts, Charlie Gracie with a hit from 1957, The Who will tell us about "Happy Jack" while Rusty Draper will tell us about a "Freight Train" that he recorded in 1957. I'll also play some tracks from the late 60's by Credence Clearwater Revival and, Thunderclap Newman as well. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gary “Angry” Anderson on the eve of Monday 21 September 2026, surrounded by his loved ones here in Australia.

Angry was a devoted father, and much-loved member of his friends, bandmates and the wider music and entertainment community. His loss will be deeply felt by all those who knew and loved him both here in Australia and overseas.

The family and band members are asking for privacy at this difficult time and will not be giving interviews. We kindly ask that their wishes are respected as they come to terms with this devastating loss and take time they need to grieve.

We thank everyone for their prays and messages of love and continued support.

It was also on this day in 1955 that Bill Haley & His Comets recorded the double-sided hit Rock-A-Beatin' Boogie/ R.O.C.K so I'll play the "A" side tonight as well. Music also tonight from Petula Clark with a #1 song that was written by Charlie Chaplin, a #1 song by Ross D Wylie that was written by the late Johnny Young, I'll play a song by an artist who has recorded hit songs under three different names, Duane Eddy will display his guitar playing skills and Cliff Richard will tell us about a "Schoolboy Crush". For John Farnham fans. His health has deteriorated.

"... A statement from our family.

John has been deeply moved by everything happening this weekend around the tribute concert at Rod Laver Arena.
The extraordinary work of the producers over these past few months, the generosity of all the artists giving their time, and the dedication of the crew and production teams working so hard to deliver this special concert — none of it is taken for granted by John or any of us, as a family. On John’s behalf, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Many people have been asking whether John will be involved in the concert or attending tomorrow night to watch it all happen. Unfortunately, he will not be able to attend and, as a family, we feel it is important to provide an update on John’s health to help explain why.
John’s health has deteriorated in recent months. He now requires continuous oxygen support and uses a wheelchair for mobility. It has also become necessary for John to receive 24-hour nursing care at home, ensuring trained support is always available when he needs it.
We have kept these matters private while our family has adjusted to John’s changing needs. However, we now feel it is important that John’s fans and supporters understand his circumstances and why he cannot be there this weekend.
If things were different, John would have loved nothing more than to attend the concert. He would undoubtedly have been a little overwhelmed by all the fuss, but he would also have wanted to thank everyone involved in person.
As a family, we have decided that it is best for John to remain at home, where he can be safe and comfortable.
Thank you for your understanding and for the many messages of love and support John continues to receive.
And to everyone involved in this weekend’s celebration concert: chookas!

Tonight, on Bob and the Baby Boomers, I'll kick the music off with a #5 hit for Australian singer Tony Worsley and then a track from a duo called Tom & Jerry but later found fame under a different name, Conway Twitty with a great cover version of a #1 hit from 1950 for Nat King Cole, The Equals will ask for their "Baby To Come Back", Peggy Lee will have a "Fever", Cilla Black with a song from a 1966 movie that was remade in 2004 and starred Jude Law, Betty Johnson will tell us about a "Little Blue Man", Big Joe Turner with a hit from 1956, The Foundations with a song from 1968 and a whole list of other music memories and information from the 50's & 60's. Who remembers this movie from 1956? The movie "Don't Knock the Rock" premiered in New York City on December 12, 1956, and opened in United States theaters on December 14, 1956. Tonight, on Bob and the Baby Boomers I'll play the title track from the movie. Also, it was on this day in 1965 that The Byrds began recording the single "Turn, Turn, Turn" so I'll play that song tonight, it's the first anniversary of the passing of Bobby Hart (one half of the duo with Tommy Boyce) and I'll play one of their hit songs, I'll play a song that was written by Chip Taylor (real name James Voight) who is the younger brother of actor John Voight that made it to #2 on the charts in 1968, it was later a hit for Juice Newton as well, he also wrote "Wild Thing' that was a hit for The Troggs, Johnny Mathis will tell us about "The Twelfth Of Never" and ex Manfred Mann singer Paul Jones will tell us he's been "A Bad, Bad Boy".
