It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gary “Angry” Anderson on the eve of Monday 21 September 2026, surrounded by his loved ones here in Australia.

Angry was a devoted father, and much-loved member of his friends, bandmates and the wider music and entertainment community. His loss will be deeply felt by all those who knew and loved him both here in Australia and overseas.

The family and band members are asking for privacy at this difficult time and will not be giving interviews. We kindly ask that their wishes are respected as they come to terms with this devastating loss and take time they need to grieve.

We thank everyone for their prays and messages of love and continued support.

It was also on this day in 1955 that Bill Haley & His Comets recorded the double-sided hit Rock-A-Beatin' Boogie/ R.O.C.K so I'll play the "A" side tonight as well. For John Farnham fans. His health has deteriorated.

"... A statement from our family.

John has been deeply moved by everything happening this weekend around the tribute concert at Rod Laver Arena.
The extraordinary work of the producers over these past few months, the generosity of all the artists giving their time, and the dedication of the crew and production teams working so hard to deliver this special concert — none of it is taken for granted by John or any of us, as a family. On John’s behalf, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Many people have been asking whether John will be involved in the concert or attending tomorrow night to watch it all happen. Unfortunately, he will not be able to attend and, as a family, we feel it is important to provide an update on John’s health to help explain why.
John’s health has deteriorated in recent months. He now requires continuous oxygen support and uses a wheelchair for mobility. It has also become necessary for John to receive 24-hour nursing care at home, ensuring trained support is always available when he needs it.
We have kept these matters private while our family has adjusted to John’s changing needs. However, we now feel it is important that John’s fans and supporters understand his circumstances and why he cannot be there this weekend.
If things were different, John would have loved nothing more than to attend the concert. He would undoubtedly have been a little overwhelmed by all the fuss, but he would also have wanted to thank everyone involved in person.
As a family, we have decided that it is best for John to remain at home, where he can be safe and comfortable.
Thank you for your understanding and for the many messages of love and support John continues to receive.
And to everyone involved in this weekend’s celebration concert: chookas!

Roy Orbison with a #1 song from 1961 that has been recorded in a duet with K D Lang, James Darren with the theme song from Gidget as it was on this day in 1965 that it made its debut on US television 6 years after the movie, a song by Jimmy Gilmer from 1963 as he was born on this day in 1940` and a song by The Four Seasons that they recorded in 1963 that is a cover of a 1956 song by Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers. Who remembers this movie from 1956? The movie "Don't Knock the Rock" premiered in New York City on December 12, 1956, and opened in United States theaters on December 14, 1956. Tonight, on Bob and the Baby Boomers I'll play the title track from the movie. Also, it was on this day in 1965 that The Byrds began recording the single "Turn, Turn, Turn" so I'll play that song tonight, it's the first anniversary of the passing of Bobby Hart (one half of the duo with Tommy Boyce) and I'll play one of their hit songs, I'll play a song that was written by Chip Taylor (real name James Voight) who is the younger brother of actor John Voight that made it to #2 on the charts in 1968, it was later a hit for Juice Newton as well, he also wrote "Wild Thing' that was a hit for The Troggs, Johnny Mathis will tell us about "The Twelfth Of Never" and ex Manfred Mann singer Paul Jones will tell us he's been "A Bad, Bad Boy". Tonight, on Bob and the Baby Boomers, I'll play a track from 1967 by Ronnie Burns (pictured) as he rocks over to 80 years of age today. Also tonight, it was on this day in 1978 that Johnny O'Keefe performed his last concert at the Bathurst RSL and I'll play a track by him from 1957 that was given to him by Bill Haley, The Beatles performed their last live TV performance on this day in 1968 on the David Frost Show and I'll play the song that they performed on that day, Patsy Cline was born on this day in 1932 so I'll play one of her songs too, The Monkees audition advertisement appeared in LA's Variety magazine on this day in 1965 reading "Madness!! Running parts for four insane boys, age 17-21..." so I'll play their theme as well. Along with music by The Four Seasons, The Fortunes, Manfred Mann with a cover of a 1958 song by The Skyliners, Bobby & Laurie, Kathy Kirby and a whole lot more music memories and information.
