fly home for their monthly showcase of female and gender diverse vinyl DJs at the Hive Bar!

This month we have:

We are excited to have Hot Flush play her first Queen Bee set this Friday, bringing the mood changes and night sweats to the pelvic (dance) floor! Known primarily as a photographer of music, culture and fashion, Liz Ham’s lifelong love of music has seen her DJ tunes alongside exhibitions, events and club nights.
Liz has obsessively amassed both digital and vinyl formats for over three decades, her collection spanning genres such as disco, glam, garage rock, new wave, punk, post punk, exotica, indie, psych, world and electronica - originating from anywhere between the 50’s and today.

She plays alongside Captain K and Rebecca Rosenfunk, two queens who are no strangers to the Queens Bee decks! Captain K breathes new life into forgotten tunes and unearths hidden gems, infusing her sets with an irresistible aura of nostalgia. Her selections are a testament to her love of the late 70’s and early 80’s, with a particular love for disco, boogie, new wave, afrobeat, JCity pop and yacht rock.

When Rebecca Rosenfunk steps up to the decks you can expect anything from smooth & sassy soul to down-and-dirty funk, dance-floor disco to rare groove, hip hop, boogie, & afro latin rhythms.

You’ll hear some excellent tunes from these three as they dig deep into their record collections, who knows what they have in store for us.

Queen Bee Collective

QUEEN BEE COLLECTIVE are a female & non-binary vinyl DJ collective based in Sydney, Australia. The queens are united by a love mutual love of soul, funk, reggae, dub, disco, garage, latin, afrobeat & exotica. The collective was born out of hangs, chats & sisterhood at the Hive Bar, Erskinekville, a local inner west venue that features vinyl DJ’s 7 nights a week.

QUEEN BEE COLLECTIVE run a regular vinyl only event at Hive Bar, last Friday of the month featuring members of the collective, guest DJ’s & vocalists.
