Vancouver 🕰️🏙️🫍

Vancouver is full of artsy vibes, great food, and FULL of personality 🤩

We absolutely loved wandering around Downtown Vancouver and exploring the quirky little district of Gastown, with its quaint steam clock 🕰️

There’s so much to do in this vibrant city, you’ll never be bored! Our highlights were (believe it or not) tandem biking around Stanley Park, eating our way through Granville Island Public Market, and watching the sunset at English Bay Beach 🌅

Canada really does put maple in EVERYTHING… 😱🇨🇦

We knew maple syrup was a big deal here, but we weren’t prepared for just how far it goes…

Maple chocolate, maple truffles, maple almonds, maple cashews, maple cookies… even maple tea?! 😅

We did NOT expect to find this in Vancouver… 😱🇨🇦

Right in the middle of Gastown is a steam clock that actually whistles every now and then, which had us very confused at first…

It’s such a random thing to stumble across in the middle of the city, and obviously we immediately wanted to know why it was there! 😅

North Vancouver 🚡🥾🐻🌲

This one really took us by surprise… we weren’t sure what to expect from North Vancouver, but boy did it exceed our expectations!

We obviously did the seemingly obligatory Grouse Grind (a.k.a. Nature’s StairMaster), and let us tell you… it is as tough as people say it is!! But nevertheless, it was a great accomplishment and made room for BeaverTails at the top 😂🦫

Josie also had a huge day of accomplishments, facing her fears on both the Grouse gondola AND the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge 🌁🚡

We also ate our way through Lonsdale Quay Market and The Shipyards. 10/10 would recommend, but you’ll definitely need to walk it off afterwards… maybe Grouse Grind 2.0? 😂

Our first time exploring Vancouver… 😱🇨🇦

We finally made it into Vancouver and basically tried to squeeze in as many of the classics as possible!

Gastown, Stanley Park, Canada Place, Granville Island… plus a great breakfast sandwich along the way… 😂

After hearing so much about Vancouver before coming to Canada, it was really nice to finally experience it for ourselves, and first impressions were VERY good 😍

We skipped Vancouver’s famous suspension bridge… 😳🇨🇦

So many people recommended Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge to us because it’s completely free, whereas Capilano is currently $76.95 CAD per adult before tax, so basically $80 each… 😮

And considering Josie is terrified of heights and might not have even made it across Capilano anyway, we decided the free option probably made a lot more sense! 😂

Josie had to face one of her biggest fears… 😳🇨🇦

After finally making it to the top of the Grouse Grind, there was only one problem left… getting back down!

And that meant taking the gondola…

Josie absolutely hates heights, so being suspended above the mountain while slowly heading back down was basically her worst nightmare 😂

We tried our first Beavertails in Canada… 😱🇨🇦

We finally tried one and it was sticky, messy and basically impossible to eat without wearing half of it!

But annoyingly… it tasted so good 😂

The only problem is you can almost feel how unhealthy it is while you’re eating it, which didn’t stop us finishing it!

They call this one of Vancouver’s toughest hikes… 😳🇨🇦

The Grouse Grind is basically one giant staircase up Grouse Mountain, with 2,830 steps and around 853 metres of elevation gain…

It’s also earned the nickname “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster”, which feels very accurate once you’re halfway up! 😅

It took us 1 hour 41 minutes to make it to the top, and by the end we definitely understood why people call it a grind… 😂
