Whilst travelling around outback Australia, we have noticed how well adapted our wildlife is to the habitat...example: in the following photo there at least a dozen pigeons....we almost walked right by them.

📌 Quilpie QLD

After a couple of pub stays along the way, we chose some paid sites for our week in Quilpie. First being the Channel Country Tourist Park which has three spas of varying temperatures, each night a central camp fire is started which gives a great networking opportunity, easy walking distance to town. Our second location was at Lake Quilpie farm stay, definitely the highlight of our week. Lots of animals, central fireplace each night and an on-site bar with reasonably priced drinks. Mind you the bar is not always open so be prepared if you wish to partake a frothy beverage or two. Whilst in Quilpie we received an introduction to the sport of polocross...a very fast game conducted on horseback. Overall an enjoyable time had at Quilpie.

Location: Cooladdi, QLD (120klm East of Quilpie)

Another pub stay, this time at the smallest town in Australia on the longest road in Australia. Great atmosphere with friendly staff/owners, great meals. Free camping out the back with power sites available inside the hotel compound. Showers available @$1 per minute for hot water.
