Here’s hoping some of these might help someone else back themselves in ❤️🔥
1. Music just works: As a consumer of most genres, it’s often talked about how certain songs can act as a distinct memory point. After raw-dogging 75% of this run, the gear shift of Jimmy Barnes screaming through my headphones seriously makes you feel like you can still get after it.
2. Everything hard only sucks when you are in it: Nedd touches on this, which I guess I only truly understood by doing something challenging. I couldn’t wait to be running around that track, but come Wednesday at 1:00 p.m., all I could think about was getting it done. Now, I can’t wait to be back in the hurt again.
3. The peak doesn’t last: This one’s hit hard. I peaked around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and the days after were rough. Couldn’t bring myself to do a lot of the things I normally get around. Guess that’s all part of it.
4. Don’t underestimate your support network: I seriously will never understand why everyone got around it so hard. Big lesson in understanding that you have so much more support around you than you think. It’s definitely there, both close and far.
5. Food is fuel: You can plan all you want, but your body still needs fuel to keep running. I had a rough outline of what I’d need at each station, but without the sideline support helping me get the right fuel at the right time, I would have been cooked.
Runners high definitely was there for a bit but time to get back to it.
