[Results of the NDIS Independent Review]�
In November 2024, NDIS commissioned Dr Duckett to review the evidence base and pricing for music and art therapy. The results were finally released last week. Key points include:
* Music therapy and art therapy are recognised as evidence-based and beneficial to some participants. Both therapies will remain funded under NDIS.
* Therapies must be delivered by qualified therapists registered with professional associations (e.g. AMTA, ANZACATA).
* From 24 November 2025, session fees will be reduced from $193.99/hour to $156.16/hour.
This 20% price cut is deeply concerning. Many practices, including ours, are already under pressure. In fact, we had to close our Blackburn clinic two months ago after misinformation and funding fears caused significant client loss. These changes will put further strain on small practices and may reduce access to quality services.
As you know, music and art therapy are not just “fun activities”. Every session you see involves careful planning, professional training, and ongoing supervision. Our therapists—who are all master’s qualified and registered with AMTA or ANZACATA—work tirelessly to support participants with complex needs, including psychosocial disabilities. This work is highly skilled and deserves fair recognition.
In the meantime:
* Session fees will remain unchanged until 24 November 2025.
* Both AMTA and ANZACATA are in active discussions with NDIA about fairer pricing.
* We are carefully reviewing how this change will affect our services.

2024 年 11 月，NDIS 委託 Duckett 博士檢視音樂治療與藝術治療的實證基礎及收費標準。結果於上週終於出爐，重點包括：
- 音樂治療與藝術治療獲確認為具實證基礎，對部分參與者有益。兩種治療將繼續獲得 NDIS 資助。
- 治療必須由合資格並已註冊於專業協會（例如 AMTA、ANZACATA）的治療師提供。
- 自 2025 年 11 月 24 日起，單次收費將由每小時 $193.99 降至 $156.16。
這項 20% 的降價 令人極為憂慮。包括我們在內的許多機構已面臨龐大壓力。事實上，由於錯誤資訊及資助不確定性造成嚴重客源流失，我們兩個月前不得不關閉 Blackburn 診所。這些變動將進一步加重小型機構的負擔，並可能削弱參與者獲得優質服務的機會。
- 眾所周知，音樂治療與藝術治療並非單純「娛樂活動」。每一節治療都涉及細心的規劃、專業的培訓，以及持續的督導。我們的治療師皆擁有碩士學歷，並已於 AMTA 或 ANZACATA 註冊，長期致力於支援包括心理社會障礙在內的複雜需求參與者。這份專業工作需要高度技能，理應獲得合理的認可。
在此期間：
- 收費將維持不變，直至 2025 年 11 月 24 日。
- AMTA 與 ANZACATA 正積極與 NDIA 商討更合理的收費標準。
我們正審慎檢視此項變動將如何影響我們的服務。
