My biggest ever order came in today for 160 books from an Australian cancer charity. The book is added to care packs and given to mums, with kids under 12, diagnosed with cancer.
What a great service.❤️
I am delighted Mum's Purple Scarf, my book about cancer for kids, is getting to those who need it.
And another charity gets a donation for every copy sold!

Being in a cancer bubble can get boring. Life goes on and I really appreciated when friends invited me to birthdays, dinners or other events. It was a wonderful reminder of life outside cancer and the never-ending appointments.

A beautiful walk on a beautiful day with a good friend. There is nothing like it to make you appreciate what you have. When I could barely move off my couch, I never thought I would get back to the point where I could manage a 5km walk with a friend. And look at me now!

I was delighted to come across this book! Pink Punk Mum is Kala Heinemann’s story about cancer treatment and shows that love is the best medicine. The illustrations are bright and joyful and the story is very upbeat. It is another wonderful resource to help kids understand the impact a parent’s cancer will have on their life.

Cancer takes up so much time. There are medical appointments and cancer fatigue. When you are diagnosed with cancer, all your normal routines go out the window. I always thought I was pretty good at knowing how to spend my time. But my cancer diagnosis meant I had to get so much better at prioritising. I wanted to spend every second I could with my family. To make that happen, some things had to go.

Kids deal with a parent’s cancer diagnosis in different ways. It is so important for them to know that they can talk to someone else. This is the lesson Bonnie shared during her chat with me about her cancer diagnosis and how she told the kids. Read her full story on the Mum’s Purple Scarf blog.

Sometimes it is difficult to put into words the gratitude you have for the kindness of strangers. The incredible organised a food train for me when I was getting chemo. I was incredibly unwell and our family were struggling. We don’t have extended family nearby and Lisa organised a food train from school mums – some of who I didn’t even know. Receiving those meals was such a gift of love and so appreciated.

Our lovely puss cat Jazzy was such a comfort too us all on my dark days during my cancer journey and throughout my long recovery. She also gave the kids a source of comfort. We love her so much – even though she scratches the furniture and is obsessed with food.

There is so much information available on the internet about cancer, cancer treatment and cancer recovery. When I was diagnosed with cancer, I found myself swamped with information. But as a mum of two young children, I was time poor. I quickly realised that I needed to find good resources – somewhere I could go to get the information I needed. For me, I stuck to information which had been vetted. I used resources from the hospital and cancer charities such as Cancer Council and the Leukaemia Foundation. They are checked by cancer experts and regularly updated.

News of Princess Catherine's cancer treatment really hit home for me. I know what it is like to try to parent primary school-aged kids while being treated for cancer. That's why I was delighted to share my story when then Australian Woman's Weekly wanted an Australian angle to this royal story.
I wrote a children's book to help parents facing the same journey. It was designed as a resource. Mum's Purple Scarf was written to help others who are facing one of the most difficult conversations of their life. People like Princess Kate.
Imagine my surprise when my illustrator, Janet Croll, called and told me that her mother, who lives in Wales, had posted a copy of our book to the Princess of Wales - along with a lovely letter. I was gob-smacked and so touched to think that our book might be able to help a high-profile mum during an incredibly difficult time.
