Bangladesh is currently in under a complete internet blackout, with all forms of telecommunication networks being blocked, cutting off the country from the rest of the world. This unprecedented move by the government aims to curb the ongoing violent protests over civil service hiring quotas, which have already claimed the lives of at least 60+ young people and left min thousands injured in clashes with law enforcement. The international community must take immediate action to condemn this violation of human rights and press the Bangladeshi authorities to restore internet access and engage in peaceful dialogue to resolve the crisis.
