Didn't ya see? Scrunch (hello, that's me πŸ‘‹) is taking January off this year to reset... oh, and to get all the bells and whistles ready for Sunshine Squad, launching very (very) soon. πŸ‘€

But while I'm takin' Pip for an extra long walk before I get into biz dev mode for the day (or hit the beach, really, who knows πŸ˜‚), I wanna share two things:

β˜€οΈ First off, social media WILL survive if you take time off. You'll be seeing content ramp up kinda soon 'round here, but I've been pretty light on for the last few weeks and (*checks pulse*) I'm still breathing. My community is still here for me. Nothing's changed... other than the injection of creativity that comes from screen-free time

😎 Secondly, HOW BLUDDY BRILL are my new brand photos by the oh-so-talented Creative Co Photography? Christy always done an unreal job, but I'm proud as punch to share these everywhere and I really couldn't hold it in any longer, so here ya go! Enjoy!

How you feelin' about January + social media? Hit me with ya thoughts! πŸ‘‡

ICYMI, I'm bringing out a sunshine-y lil thing called Sunshine Squad, a group membership designed to:

β˜€οΈ Make sure all your big and beautiful marketing ideas see the light of day

β˜€οΈ Put a more strategic spin on your socials, with regular meet ups with the Social Media Hero herself

β˜€οΈ Give you a community full o' small biz owners who *get* your struggles with socials

β˜€οΈ Make social media easy and fun again, like it's back in the golden age of social media for small biz of 2016

'Cause here's the deal. I started Scrunch to help small business owners get RESULTS for their businesses through social media marketing.

Buuuuut I'm [like, always] at capacity. I have a waitlist full o' people waiting to work with me. Sure, I occasionally have a spot open up, but I can't help anywhere *near* the amount of small biz's I wanna.

That's why Sunshine Squad makes sense to me.

That's why I'm *so* flipping excited about the difference it's gonna make to small biz's everywhere.

And it's why I'm testing it behind the scenes with a few beautiful biz owners, making sure the finished product is juuuust right come Feb 2023.

Wanna make sure you don't miss out on the launch? Sunshine up your socials and sign up to the waitlist: https://bit.ly/3Sz2C6e

It's wild to me that 12 months ago, I was sitting in the "office" of my old share house, starting my first day of full time Scrunch.

I didn't have enough clients to cover my full time salary.

I didn't have a full 40hr week o' work.

I didn't have a single bluddy clue what I was doin', but I *knew* it was the right move for my career and my life.

We're a whole year on and I'm absolutely blown away at how Scrunch has bloomed. Not only am I booked out a wild amount of months in advance [that's all thanks to YOU wonderful people], I get the absolute pleasure of working with leaders in their fields on their social media marketing. It's what I set out to do, and knowing I'm makin' it happen for myself is just bluddy unreal.

So, thank YOU for making this life of mine possible. I'm living the dream, and it's all thanks to you. πŸ₯°

I've *already* got my EOY leave on lock. Here's why:

πŸ’ My big bro's getting hitched in NZ at the start of December, meaning a week off to celebrate with him, my new sis-in-law and my fam

😬 I work with *mostly* service-based bizos, and they all tend to quieten down + take time off themselves over Dec/Jan

πŸ”₯ I have a hot new offer [read: membership πŸ‘€] dropping in Feb 2023, and I need to make sure that's all ready to rock n roll

😴 But mostly? I need to catch up on some Z's. 2022 has been *massive* and I need time to sit in stillness, reflect on my business [and life] and decide where to from here

And I'm *so* bluddy lucky my clients get it. Yes, I'm still lookin' after 'em [I'm not just saying see ya later, alligator], but in a reduced capacity. And they're happy for me. Heck, most of the responses to my leave notice had a "You go glen coco! Take a break, you deserve it!" kind o' message. 😍

How are you feeling as we approach the end-of-year shenanigans? Are you taking time off, too? What's your biggest driver?

Why is "growth" not the same as "hustle"? Lemme explain πŸ‘‡

Hustle is the idea that you're workingworkingworking until you've got just about no work left in ya.

You're pulling long hours. Doing late nights. Work is your life and you can't imagine a life with anything remotely close to balance.

And that's okay, because work 24/7 *is* your balance. You might be doing it out of necessity, you might be doing it because you bluddy love it. As long as you're happy hustlin', keep on keepin' on, my friend! πŸ₯°

But hustle is not synonymous with growth.

Because growth, on the other hand, is as simple as the word itself. Growth. You're moving in an onwards-and-upwards direction. You're growing into bigger things, better things, *more* things. You're propelling yourself forward.

And that can be done without hustle.

How do I know? 'Cause I'm doin' it right now.

Scrunch has grown the *most* in the last 12 months than I would've ever thought possible.

Sure, I've had a coupl'a weeks here and there which have been pretty hustle-y, but those weeks actually saw the *least* biz growth. They were all client work, no biz dev work.

And that's okay, too.

But my point, I s'pose, is to steer clear of conflating the two. I see it allllllll the time online and I just wanna make sure all my fellow non-hustlers know they can grow, too.

And I wanna make sure all my hustlers know there's nothing wrong with hustling if it works for them, and they can do amazing things with that mindset!

What do you think of the relationship between growth and hustle? Gimme your two cents! πŸ‘‡

Here's the realio dealio, fam. Managing a brand's social media presence [across IG, FB, LI, TT, etc] is becoming a full time job, so how are small biz's meant to stay in the game when the big guys have the $$ to drop on strategists and sm managers? 🀯πŸ˜ͺ😬

Well, that's a problem I'm working on solving right now, with my solution due right around Feb 2023.

I've always bluddy loved working with small biz's and it's absolutely rolled me to see how many are feeling very much over social media.

It's becoming too hard. Too expansive [and expensive]. Too exhausting to keep up with ON TOP OF all the other stuff they have to do to keep their biz afloat.

My solution isn't just gonna be easy, affordable and accessible [but to be super duper clear, it *is* all o' those things, too!], it's gonna bring a bit of that old school sunshine back into your social media marketing.

I'm making it my lone goal in 2023 to get my small biz pals to fall back in love with their social media marketing, 'cause when you love your socials? You're gonna wanna show up.

And when you show up? You're gonna see your audience showing up right back atcha [and for ya!]. πŸ₯°

Does this sound like somethin' you wanna hold on tight to [and never ever let go]?? It might be time to slide on into the DMs with your email address to join the waitlist and be the first ones EVER to know about this brand new thing.

It's time to sunshine up your socials and I'm *so* ready to help you do it.

If you head awnnnn over to my website, you'll be smacked in the face with comfy letters that read "Sunshine UP your social media".

And I don't talk about that enough, so [pls] gimme two minutes of your time to explain why that is uber important in the digital marketing space. πŸ₯°

The digital world is kinda a bit of a sh*tshow some days. It's got all sorts of dark n twisty lands in it's midst, lands you really don't wanna venture into.

But when you're a small biz owner, you kinda sorta gotta venture into the digital world on the daily, with so many of us so often DIY'ing our websites, our branding, our ads and, importantly, our social media marketing.

It can get all too overwhelming and gloomy and bring you right down in the dumps, which isn't exactly the kind o' creative, idea-sparking place to run a biz from.

Enter: The Sunshine Approach to your social media.

The Sunshine Approach [this just rolled off the tongue but I'm kinda thinking I should I defs TM this or somethin'?? 🀩🀩] helps shine warm, bright, vibrant rays of sunshine into every biz owner's social media world, with:

🌞 A human-focused approach to social media marketing, keeping in mind that there's a very human biz owner behind the scenes who is all too often *struggling*

🌞 An ease-first approach to content creation, where there will never ever ever in a million years cross my heart stick a needle in my eye EVER be someone telling you to dance and point on reels if it doesn't feel comfy or fun or easy to you

🌞 A fun-matters philosophy, turning the "ughhhh I have to batch my socials now" level of dread into a "not even the hulk could stop me from creating content" level of excitement

I don't know about you, but this sounds like *exactly* what the social media world needs.

And that's why I've got a special something in the works for 2023 to help ALL small biz owners do just that, without having to worry about my own limited capacity for client management. 😍

.. and if you wanna work with me in 2023, it's time to head on over to the link in bio and book a discovery call. Yup, you heard right. 2023. I'm talking to rad biz owners NOW so we can *really* hit the ground running in the NY. πŸ₯°

Ever heard of the ol' surprise and delight tactic? 😱 πŸ₯°

It's one of my all time fave ways to build an audience full of your biggest supporters who will spread the good word of your biz to just about anyone who'll listen.

AKA: every biz owner's dream. 🀣πŸ₯°

So, I thought I'd swing awn in with three ways to surprise n delight for service and product bizos.

SERVICES
🌞 Send new clients a welcome pack! This can be as simple as a card and a bit o' confetti [or whatever your brand's fun o' choice is]
🌞 Remember the small details. Are they a coffee or tea person? What's their dog's name? What days + hours do they work? Remember the details and use this to build a better relationship with 'em.
🌞 Check in during the process and be open to receiving their feedback [sure, it's less surprise n delight-y, but it might help give you ideas for future surprise n delights]

PRODUCTS
🌸 Add a bonus gift or discount code into their first order
🌸 Write a note [yes, handwritten!] telling 'em how much you appreciate their support or suggesting how they can use/style your product best
🌸 Respond to their testimonials with total gratitude. This helps incentivise future testimonials [yay for you!] and makes your testimonial giver feel all warm n fuzzy

Found one you wanna take for a spin? Lemme know which one you'll be trying and if you're as forgetful as I am, save this for later to actually, y'know, action it πŸ˜‰

We ab-suh-freakin-lutely bluddy *love* a sea of green in ye ol' Instagram Insights, but I've got a bit of a controversial opinion for ya:

In-platform insights tell one side of the story. Outta-platform insights tell the other.

Lemme explain super quickly. πŸ‘‡

In-platform insights are all o' the numbers you see on the screen above. Reach. Impressions. Engagements. Followers. They're the numbers that tell you how your social media performance is going. How much your content is resonating. How hard your audience is lovin' what you're doing.

And these are important. Heck, these are the numbers all o' us SMMs report on.

But the more important numbers? They're the outta-platform numbers that tell us how THESE numbers help the biz. Website traffic. Adds to cart. Purchases. Leads. Page views on your blog. Email sign ups.

And if your goal on social is to grow your biz, we should be looking at these outta-platform numbers and weighing them with our in-platform numbers to see if they match up, don't ya reckon? 😍

I know it's not always easy, 'cause SMMs don't [usually] have access to all o' this biz info. But every time reporting rolls around, maybe we [self included! Lawd knows I'm not flawless at asking this of my clients] should be checking in to make sure these metrics are actually aligning.

We so often forget social media marketing actually has the power to grow our biz's IRL, so take this as your reminder that it *can*. And tb-super-h, if you're doin' it right, it should. 😎

Seen my groovy as heck new brand? Fab, this post isn't about that [though you can keep your πŸ‘€ peeled for a deep dive on that tomoz 😘 ]...

But it *is* about how I stay consistent on socials day in, day out - and why you should start uppin' the ante on your posting game, too.

I'm gonna be real with ya. A month ago? I couldn't *stand* looking at my old branding. I'd tried mixing it up in a very basic, DIY way and wanted nothing more than to throw it in the bin, avoid all social media channels and never release a branded post ever again.

But I stayed consistent. I kept showing up. And yes, now I have a gorrrrrrjussssss new brand [tyvm ] to sprinkle all over the social media space, but I persevered through my deep desire to just stop.

Why? 'Cause consistency matters.

Brand recognition matters.

Connecting with your community matters.

And you can't do those things without publishing content on the reg, pleasing ye ol' algorithms and keeping your brand in front of your people.

But it's not that easy to stay consistent [believe me, I know]. So, here are my top three tips for rolling out regular, value-add content on socials:

🌸 Repurpose content: Blogs, podcasts, emails, workshops. You name it, you can just about repurpose it into social media content. Just copy n paste, tweak to suit the platform and Bob's your uncle

πŸ˜‰ Create content *you* love creating: If you enjoy the content creation process, the chances are you're gonna wanna show up when it's time to batch it up and smash it out. Find what brings you joy and lean all the way in.

πŸ’« Change your definition of "consistent". Most of us think posting consistently means 1-2 times per day, every single day. Yeah, nah. Not the vibe. Create a consistent posting frequency that is *achievable* for you, even if it's once a week. Sure, you might not get the results you'd achieve if you upped the ante to 3-5 times per week, but you're still showing up and that's a great place to start.

How do you show up consistently on socials? Do you find yourself trapped in Struggle City or are you cruising through the Hills o' Chills?
