๐ก We've started coming up with a hack to minimise food wastage and clear out any unused ingredients from our fridge.
So whenever we go through a busy week and things start piling up in the fridge from our weekly grocery "top up" runs, making quick and easy broth-based dishes became a sure fire way to clear our fridge before things start to go bad.
For tonight's dinner, we used store-bought tom yum paste and took out whatever proteins and veggies we had remaining in our fridge:
- A little bit of chicken,
- A handful of prawn,
- Some chopped cabbage,
- A small bowl of frozen green beans,
- 2 cups of leftover chicken broth, and
- Half a packet of flat rice noodles;
Then, we followed the recipe as displayed on the tom yum paste bottle;
Et voila - 15 minutes later, you get to enjoy at least 6 serves of delicious Thai-style tom yum, you've managed to prevent food wastage, you've made room for your next grocery run, and Bob's your uncle.
โฉ Swipe to see which brand of tom yum paste we tried this time. Pretty tangy and tasty, not spicy at all, great flavour profile. The taste and scent of keffir lime leaves shone through as we cooked this dish. Would make this again.
Let us know if you have a favourite tom yum paste brand that you'd recommend trying out!
