PSA:
I paint something because I felt a powerful urge. For awhile I was so stuck in the ‘business’ mind set and the stress about needing to equate effort to $$.
Every interaction seems to need to have the motivation to make a transaction. This has never sat well with me and it killed my love for painting.

I have taken a long break from it all and now I’m back with a much-needed clarity.

I love two things when it comes to painting.

1. A story
2. Bespoke Artwork

Going forward, I plan to create pieces that moved me. These pieces might live in my journals or be available for purchase.

I will continue to be open for commission pieces ❤️

This is my second submission to the Incognito Art Show
Based on a series of dreamy shots of some field mice by Karen Jackson. I simply could not resist recreating one of them in watercolour. The tulip was quite an experience for me, as it was my first time. And I think I really liked painting flowers now. A bit of a change from painting fur and feathers.

So I'm in the Incognito Art Show zone at the mo. Two pieces were recently sold at the Sydney event. My third submission has been allocated to the Brisbane event; that's not open till the 25th of July.

Here's a look at the first piece, The Kookaburra in watercolour.
I am big on going with my eyes and gut rather than my brain. So when I see something, gut says heck yea! I go for it. That was the exact visceral reaction I got when I saw the original photo for the first time.

They are a husband and wife duo from Melbourne and take the most beautiful and incredible photos of birds and wildlife. To my surprise, so many of their bird photos are from the Cranbourne Botanical Garden! I certainly do not notice any fancy birds when I go for walks at the Royal Botanical Garden. This goes to show that they are extremely skilled at noticing and capturing those wonderful creatures.

Incognito Art Show submissions are en route ✈️
I feel like I deserve a treat or something 😘

Having forced my self to stick to the deadline has given me a potentially fresh artistic direction to explore. We’ll see what I’ll come up with. 😘🤞

I’m back in headspace of painting again.
I had to step away for awhile as I had been feeling aimless. My soul searching has brought me back with a renewed perspective on my relationship with water, pigment and hands.

I look forward to sharing soon.
