Great having our Yamaha TX816 FM synth module back in service in Studio 1. This rack of 8 DX-7s had a power supply failure, which is not uncommon with this model. The early switch-mode power supply was prone to heating and capacitor failure issues as it was running close to its limits so Steve replaced it with a brand new modern switch-mode supply. Now we are cooking!

We’ve added some Lofi to our Hifi with a mint condition Tascam 246 4 track cassette tape recorder. Now you can run everything from synths and guitars to finished tracks through this for the genuine 1980s cassette tape sound. Lucky Steve held on to a pile of original 80s and 90s cassette tapes!

SynthTemple’s in-house sound programmer, Steve Jones, was in his sweet spot helping to program synth sounds for Melbourne based, award winning music composer, Dmitri Golovko. We look forward to the movie release to listen to his impressive score.

Always refining. Always levelling up.
Studio 2 has seen a few upgrades lately — we’ve added a pair of ATC SCM25A Pro Mk 2 nearfield monitors to complement the Genelec Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 system, and captured a few new rack shots for those who appreciate the finer details in signal chain and sound.
For producers used to PMC 6-2s, we can bring those in from Studio 1, and Barefoot MM27s are available on request.
Built around a Pro Tools Ultimate rig, Studio 2 is designed for precision — ideal for tracking vocals or drums from the Solo Room, recording live sessions from Studio 1, and mixing in stereo or Dolby Atmos with absolute accuracy.

Tony chats with Brett Little and Adrien Harris about their fun afternoon experimenting and creating on the worlds largest Roland System 700.

An excerpt from an epic performance on the world’s largest Roland System 700 by Brett Little and Adrien Harris . All sounds patched and recorded in one take with no effects and played through the Genelec monitors. Brett found the “experience was something truly spiritual to do with my band mate and best friend”. The team loved being along for the fun ride.

Next post Tony interviews Brett and Adrien about their piece.

We will share the link when Brett and Adrien load the full video.
