Hey small business owners struggling to get seen on social media! I know it's been tough lately, I know you're busy and I know social media content can get pushed to the bottom of the list frequently.
What if taking photos for social media was more fun? What if your posts got more engagement? What if followers turned into engagers that turned into clients?
I've put together some quick tips to help you take better photos for your socials, the first step to becoming a scroll stopper and enticing people to read your content and engage.
1. Find the light! This is rule number one for photographers and is essential for taking beautiful images. Put as simply and quickly as possible...natural light is the best.
- Outdoors and sunny = stand in the shade
- Overcast (my favourite)= stand anywhere
- Inside = stand near a window or an open external door but make sure the window or door is behind you and not the camera!
2. The rule of thirds. Imagine a nine square grid and put your main subject on one of the lines instead of having it/them central. Notice in my post photo I am positioned off-centre where the grid lines would intersect on the right.
3. Images perform better with people in them so include yourself, your staff and your customers. Focus on lifestyle images that show who you are, how you spend your time and what you can do for your clients.
4. Lastly, to help you with tip number 3, when taking a photo of a person hold the camera or phone straight and at eye level or slightly above and slightly tilted down. This is a flattering angle, particularly for women, and the better you look in photos the more confident you’ll feel showing up in your business.
Of course if you are too busy to do it yourself, that's what I am here for! DM me today to discuss personal branding for you and your business.
