🧐Please check out, share and comment on what Senator Jordon Steele-John our only disabled parliamentarian had to say about the NDIS bill, currently before parliament. What do you think about the bill?

According to the Senator:
🔴 The proposed changes to the NDIS Act in Australia could undermine the rights of disabled people and remove their choice and control over individualized supports. 🚫
😔 The introduction of needs assessments and the shift to a flexible budget could result in reduced funding and limited access to necessary supports.
⚖️ The legislation grants significant powers to the agency and the government, allowing them to determine what supports are appropriate and who can provide them.
⬇️ The proposed changes could lead to increased financial stress, reduced independence, and a regression in the progress made towards inclusion and community engagement for disabled people.
🗣️ It is crucial for disabled people and their allies to push back against these changes, advocate for necessary fixes to the NDIS, and ensure that their voices are heard in the decision-making process.

Sound Bites from Senator Jordan 🎤
"This legislation represents one of the most serious attempts by a government to undermine the rights of disabled people." 📢
"These changes will result in reductions of the amount of funding in people's plans." 💸

📝 In my latest article below, I delve into the fight facing participants and families to be in charge of our supports and our lives.

🔍 The NDIS Review proposes changes that undermine our ability to choose who comes into our homes and who touches our bodies—a fundamental human right.

🌈The NDIS Provider and Worker Registration Taskforce has the potential to ensure the NDIS remains a tool for empowerment, inclusion, and dignity. By developing a truly individualised, rights-based quality framework as I recommend, the taskforce can set us on a positive path. One where each of our unique circumstances and preferences shape the proportionate safeguards around us within a broader individualised "ecosystem" of informal and formal supports.

🙏 Please share this article with your network to raise awareness and support the rights of people with disabilities and our families to choice and control in the NDIS.

💪 Together, we can ensure that decades of activism lead to lasting, authentic progress towards true self-determination.
