🪦🖤 Back Where It All Began…

Judith O’Dea and Russ Streiner — forever Barbra and Johnny — return to the very spot where Night of the Living Dead first sent chills down audiences’ spines.

Captured in 2023 during Living Dead Weekend, this photo was taken at the exact filming location in Evans City Cemetery where Barbra and Johnny visit their father’s grave in the film’s unforgettable opening scene. More than five decades later, cast, crew, and fans gathered once again at this historic location to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of Night of the Living Dead and share the experience together.

From the opening line to the first ghoul’s appearance, this quiet cemetery moment changed horror history forever.

“They’re coming to get you, Barbra…” 🧟‍♂️

Due to being a bit busy on my end the past few days, the next main episode, which was meant to be released today, has been pushed back a little bit since I still need to finish editing it. It will now be released on Wednesday 17th AU instead. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Well, I’ve got some exciting news! Today I got to interview author Daniel Kraus (WHALEFALL, THE LIVING DEAD) to discuss his upcoming book PARTIALLY DEVOURED, which is on NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968). Thanks to Daniel and his team for arranging this. Lookout for the episode when it hits in March closer to the books release date!

Just finished recording a little something for an upcoming new project that is going to be on the BVTLD network. I can’t say what it is just yet, but all will be revealed next week. Keep a look out for what it is on all of our social media feeds. Believe me, it’s very exciting! Watch this space.

Currently reading something pretty great in preparation for something that is coming up soon for the podcast. I won’t divulge what it is yet but believe me, this is very exciting 😁

📰 “Horror Film is Horrible” — Daily News, Dec. 5, 1968

Well… Ann Guarino certainly didn’t mince words in her 1968 review of Night of the Living Dead!
She called the film “in poorer taste” and labeled it flat-out “horrible.”

💀
That “horrible” little movie is now considered one of the greatest and most influential horror films ever made—preserved by the Library of Congress, studied in film schools, adored by millions of fans, and STILL scaring the living daylights out of new generations.

Sometimes the critics get it wrong…
…but the fans always get it right. 👀🧟‍♂️

Due to a few things that have come up, I’m still currently editing the next main episode of the podcast. It won’t be released tomorrow as originally planned, instead of it will come out next Sunday the 14th AUEST. Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

🏚️ Where It All Began… From Above 🕯️

This breathtaking aerial photo by Daniel Lowery captures the original Night of the Living Dead farmhouse location — usually off limits to the general public, this image was taken during one of the Living Dead Weekend location tours.

The farmhouse where Barbra, Ben, and the others made their last stand was torn down shortly after filming wrapped in 1967. Today, a new house stands in its place — its chimney marking roughly where the front porch of the original home once stood.

From this view, it’s easy to imagine the ghouls slowly gathering in the dark.
