I’ve never liked the phrase,
“Wow, your husband is such a big help.”

Because he’s not helping me raise our kids.
He’s raising his kids.

He knows their shoe sizes and their favorite bedtime books.

He prepare lunches and buckles car seats and does the bedtime routines.

He doesn’t do these things for praise, he does them because he’s their dad.

This isn’t extra. It’s parenthood.
And when both parents show up fully it changes everything.

Let’s stop calling involved dads “helpful.”
They’re not the backup crew.
They’re on the front lines with us.

And our kids are better for it.
