As the next two screenings of Unanswered Calls are upon us (Melbourne tonight and Brisbane next week), we want to take a moment to acknowledge the people who worked so hard to bring the film to life.

This project was a collaborative effort from the start; but the care, consideration, sensitivity and artistry that went into bringing these stories to life is important to recognise. It was this collective commitment to detail, to story, to craft and the issue itself, that has led to Unanswered Calls landing the way it has.

Due to overwhelming demand, ‘Unanswered Calls’ is returning for a second Melbourne screening.

Presented by Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre and produced by Venn, Unanswered Calls is a powerful impact film that shines a light on the urgent need to better support young people experiencing domestic and family violence.

After a sold-out premiere in February, Safe Steps is bringing this important story back to Melbourne (The Capitol) for another screening for those who missed it the first time - as part of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.

Brisbane: You're Next!

will be screening on the 4th of June 2025 at the State Library of Queensland.

We produced this film for Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre that confronts the crisis facing young people who experience family violence and raises awareness of why we must better support young people so they don't fall through the gaps.

This screening will be hosted by Luke Twyford, Principal Commissioner, Qld Family and Child Commission, and the Honourable Amanda Camm MP. Minister for Child Safety and the Prevention of Family Violence and Minister for Families, Seniors and Disability Services will be in attendance.

Last night, we were honoured to premiere Unanswered Calls, a film that brings attention to the silent victims of family and domestic violence.

A huge thank you to Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre, Minderoo Foundation, everyone who made this project possible, and the 600+ people who joined us for this important event.

As we approach the premiere of our latest project, Unanswered Calls, we reflect back on the many stories we have been fortunate to bring to life about better supporting children and young people.

In 2012 we produced a short film called ‘Mates’ for Mental Health First Aid Australia designed to help teenagers identify the warning signs that their mates might be struggling; In 2019 we produced an interactive series for LifeStyles all about sexual wellness; and in 2023 we produced a new series of short films (scripted and factual) for Mental Health First Aid, all about helping adults better support young people struggling with their mental health.

Cut to 2025 and we're about to premiere the powerful 50min documentary 'Unanswered Calls' at the Capitol Theatre in Melbourne, which is all about why we must better support children and young people impacted by domestic and family violence. Unanswered Calls is a Venn production, presented by Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre, in association with Minderoo Pictures.
