The CDI Children’s and CDI Pony classes have been added to this year’s Sydney CDI. If you’re planning to compete, now’s the time to start getting your new years freestyle sorted!

Supporting the Next Generation

We are excited to announce the addition of a CDICh (FEI Children’s) event to the 2025 schedule, alongside the debut of the CDIP (FEI Ponies) as part of this year’s program.

These new competitions, along with our established Youth categories, provide a vital platform for emerging talent in dressage. We are now seeking sponsors to support these categories, which include:
• Children’s (CDICh): Riders aged 12-14 years
• Ponies (CDIP): Riders aged 12-16 years
• Juniors (CDIJ): Riders aged 14-18 years
• Young Riders (CDIY): Riders aged 16-21 years
• U25 (CDIU25): Riders under 25 years

Do you want to ride a freestyle but are unsure how to create one?

I have been riding and creating my own freestyles for over two years now, and during this time, I’ve learned a lot about selecting the right music and designing tests that highlight both the horse and rider’s strengths. One of the key things I’ve discovered is the importance of matching the music to the horse’s natural movements, creating a smooth and graceful performance. The music should complement the horse’s gaits and help tell a story, while the choreography flows seamlessly with the rhythm. Each freestyle combines creativity and a solid understanding of the sport, and I’m excited to share this experience with riders, helping them perform to music they love.
