Sow Discord is the sample based electronics project of Dave Coen, noise maker in long running Melbourne sludge outfit Whitehorse. Retroactive Extortion sees Coen exploring the dark, subterranean side of sample based music with coded references to early 90s hip hop.

Demons Gate – World of the Dream / Follow the Tempest. Sydney traditional heavy metal.

Futility – Anhedonic. Peaceville style doom with death metal elements from this long running band out of Canberra.

Glory Anthem – Death Or Glory MLP. Trad heavy metal out of Germany.

A bunch of new CD arrivals over the weekend (and more incoming), but we need to take a moment to talk about Infinitum.

Featuring members of cult legendary Canberra metal acts Psychrist and Dehuman, as well as members of Astriaal, Infinitum were a brutal and technical death metal band from the nations capital playing a style similar to Suffocation and Immolation.

Releasing two albums, Behold Eradication in 2008 and the Sixth Extinction in 2012 before calling it quits in 2013, Infinitum is one of the true, hidden gems of the Australian underground death metal scene.

Complete with some now slightly cheesy 00s digital cover artwork, as was the style at the time, these records are extremely good and still stand up nearly two decades later.

Svart coming in with some proper weirdness on this one! Haunted Plasma is a newish three piece feat. members of Oranssi Pazuzu, K-X-P, Grave Pleasures and Aavikko.

Debut album ‘I’ is described as a ‘powerhouse of futuristic synth in symbiosis with the super violence of kosmische black metal’.

To translate, take Tangerine Dream, Massive Attack or Timewave Zero and throw it into a Finnish branded blender with krautrock and black metal to taste. A psychedelic, trippy, weird aural wasteland!
