Solastalgia is out now!

Huge congratulations to Nat Bartsch and the Monash Art Ensemble on the release of the first single ‘Solastalgia’ from the forthcoming album ‘Acceptance Does Not Mean Surrender’!

Solastalgia describes the feeling of homesickness for a place you’re still in that has changed beyond recognition. It was a term created by Australian philosopher Glenn Albrecht.

This piece is one of many moving, powerful pieces on Acceptance Does Not Mean Surrender, and we cannot wait to share the rest with you soon!

The first single ‘Solastalgia’ from Nat Bartsch’s upcoming album ‘Acceptance Does Not Mean Surrender’ is out tomorrow!

Solastalgia describes the feeling of homesickness for a place you still live in, but that has been irreversibly changed. The track begins with ocean waves lapping, a gentle piano, and heart-wrenching string melodies. As a piano solo begins, the voices of climate scientists reflect upon this feeling in their own lives.

Finally getting around to sharing some snippets from Sonance Volume 3!

This is a snippet from my piece ‘For Us’ and I think this was one of the pieces I was most excited to perform live with the string quartet. There’s something special about hearing your music live, and I think something even more special about being able to play your music live to ❤️

Huge congratulations to Danny Barwick on the release of his third and final single from the forthcoming album, Solace!

Coalesce (fragment), is a gentle and deeply tender ambient composition built from soothing piano, rounded guitar textures, and slowly unfolding harmonic layers. Fragile, spacious, and hopeful, the piece settles into a state of deep rest and emotional warmth.

Rain (fragment) is a dark and atmospheric work, beginning with backyard Melbourne birdsong, and descending into an eerie, ethereal landscape of saxophone and guitar textures- featuring time-stretched samples of improvisations by Colin Hopkins (piano), Steve Magnusson (guitar), and Julien Wilson (saxophone).

It’s been just over one week since we released the first single ‘Home (fragment)’ from Danny Barwick’s upcoming album ‘Solace’!

Home is a slow-moving ambient piece of time-stretched piano, slide guitar, and strings. Gentle and soothing improvisations create a place of calm, rest, and uncomplicated pleasure. Thank you to everyone who has listened!
